View Full Version : Peninsula ride Memorial weekend
I have been giving serious thought to taking a 2 day ride in the peninsula over the Memorial Day weekend. I was being selfish in thinking of doing the ride solo, and then thought that maybe someone else might be thinking of doing the same.
I would probably leave Bellingham early Sat morning and catch the ferry to Port Townsend, take 101 south to 12 and west to Aberdeen, then north to Forks for the night. Next day north to Neah Bay and then east through Port Angeles, Port Townsend and ferry back to Widbey. Or something like that :)

I too, would like to hook up somewhere that weekend for at least part of the ride. Bill you've got my cell # and Al's got my cell # and I've got Al's cell #. I could leave at the crack of dawn and do one of those days anyway. Sounds like fun! :)
Bill, you should get my check tommorow or wednesday.
Later...
Hey WAVTX, Craneguy, BigBlue, (others?)
Ride update:
The first ferry out of Keystone for Port Townsend leaves at 7:15, arriving at PT about 7:45 (I guess, they don't say). Anyway, I plan to be on it.
I was planning on taking 20 west to 101, then south to 12 and west to Aberdeen, then north on 101 to around Forks for the first day. We've a week to work out the details so let me know what your ideas are.
Questions:
What parts were you considering joining up for and where would we meet? I had considered coming down from PT through Poulsbo & Bremerton to Belfair, but remember that road as being very slow for someone with an agenda, I could spend a quarter of the day going through there. I haven't ruled it out if you guys have good reasons for taking it.
I'm a breakfast kind of guy. If we will be meeting up later rather than sooner, I will eat on Widbey, maybe Oak Harbor on the way. Let me know what your thoughts are on that.

Bill, which day will you be catching that ferry ? Sunday would be the best day for me to ride but I could ride Saturday with some flak from the wife. I could meet up in Aberdeen. It sounds like you won't hit Aberdeen til sometime around noon or so. I figure the ride to Forks is a pretty good haul and I don't think I would be ready to head back to Tacoma the same day especially since I don't like to ride at night. What were you planning as far as staying over night? Do you have hotel reservations or were you gonna wing it ? Also wavtx, craneguy and others, would you be interested in meeting up locally early in the morn for the ride to Aberdeen?
Just some thoughts. What does everyone else think?
I will be leaving Saturday morning and returning home on Sunday. I plan to stay the night in Forks, no reservations.

:( Hi Bill, I won't be able to make it this weekend. 17 days till I head out for Kentucky, if you count today!! :D I am comsumed with pre trip planning, and preparations. To say the least about getting as much as I can, done around the house so my wife doesn't have to worry about that stuff. I don't ever remember being more stokked about any trip I have ever made!

Hey Bill, all
Looks like I won't be participating in the ride this weekend. I've picked up a nasty cold and it looks like rain. Just doesn't add up to a fun time for me. Enjoy the ride and be safe.
