Wife and I will be coming to Cleveland this weekend. Our first bike ride in the area. Booked a room there instead of Gatlinburg trying to stay away from the crowds/traffic. Would appreciate any suggestions for a route starting out in Cleveland. Looks like hwy. 68 up through Cherokee might be good, also following 64 into North Carolina. Looks like a lot of scenic routes on the map staying southeast of Cleveland. Thanks for any advice.

Greetings Stray, One ride out of Cleveland my wife and I take and enjoy is Highway 64 West to Highway 411 North to Madisonville where we hit Highway 68 South (East?) to Tellico where we then pick up one of the best motorcycle roads ever....the Cherohala Skyway....about 50 miles of beautiful good twisty roads with many pulloffs to enjoy the views. No commerical traffic is allowed on the Skyway. The Skyway will take you to Robbinsville NC. You can follow 129 to Highway 74/19 which will take you to Cherokee NC or Maggie Valley. If you go Tellico be sure to stop at the Visitors Center for info and maps and visit the Museum next door, also fill up with gas in Tellico as there are no stores between Tellico and Robbinsville.... if you end up in Maggie Valley check out the Wheels Through Time American Motorcycle Museum....Well worth the visit. This time of year this sould be a very pretty ride. Just remember the temp will drop 10 degrees or so over the mountians. This is motorcycle country :D :D :D ! Ride safe, Bisley
