Well I have recently moved from Southern California to S.Carolina. I am not used to riding in cold weather so! I am interested in "Motorcycle Clothing Tips" for riding in cold weather! Tell me/us YOUR best tips for cold weather "warmth" on the bike! For instance "What is the best base layer of clothing that you have found to wear under your jacket, What kind of gloves. I don't really want to spend $$ for heated grips or gloves BUT if you like it let me know I might get convinced! I want to be able to ride in some of the cold weather (by my standards anyway) & am looking for tips! THANK-YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Before I got my Gerbing heated gloves and jacket liner, I wore thermal underwear under my leather jacket and chaps, along with my insulated leather gloves.
The best place to buy leather goods is at the Barnyard Flea Market, on US 1, open every Sat and Sun.
Keep in mind that I have a windshield and lowers, which helps a lot.

I ride year round if no ice or snow on the road :) I have Honda Heated grips and love them. They came with the bike but there are several cheaper ( and just as good) vendors that sell them. Try HDL.
The do make a difference. Also fleese thermal underwear and leather will get you safely into the lower 40's. But the real deal is electrical heated liners or complete heated clothes.
I also use a fleese neck tube to keep the wind out from under my helmet.
A lot depends on how far you have to ride also. Leather will stop the cold wind from getting to you but will also get really cold without proper insulation under it.

It seems to me that the fingers and neck are most vulnerable to the cold. I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and got nordic ski gloves for the fingers, and a ski mask that covers the neck. It ain't got "HD" or "Honda" imprinted on it, so it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Check out ski clothing and it will give you the cold protection when riding.
