Wish it was not the first week back after summer break. They tend to frown on taking the first week off.

Yes. I have reservations for two sites at Spearfish Hatchery. I am leaving from Oregon Via Bend/Boise and going up from Denver. One of my sisters is riding her new 750 up from Arizona, and I am picking up the other sister in Denver where she is flying in from Arizona.

There are a lot of sensible non-Harley riders in Sturgis. More and more every year. I went last year on my old Yamaha and never had a problem. Can't wait to take the new VTX to Sturgis next year!

The week before the official rally seems to be turning into Metric Week...

The fun begins about 2 weeks before the official start, and ends about a week after....

If any one needs info or help, I live in Newell S.D. 25 miles North of Sturgis. And NO problem with metrics. Just run what ya brung and have a blast.. you may want to look into Newell for cheap motel and or camping. If your looking for Spas and Jacussis? Skip Newell cuz this is where country is.. I have at least one RV spot and a couple three tenters can stay free.. Don't have to be harley or Honda. makes no difference to me.. just keep the breeze on the knees..

Grandpa J, when were you planning leaving? Maybe I can get a bunch of the SoFla guys to make the trip and we can meet you for the ride out.

Going up the week BEFORE Bike Week next summer. Have spent several years going the week OF, last year the week AFTER. Going early or late can have obvious advantages - particularly if you like seeing wildlife and using gas station bathrooms.

Staying at Custer State Park (Blue Bell).

Already have my res at a campsite and then a hotel in Hewlitt, Wyoming for wild womens night, so I can enjoy the whole night and not have to drive afterwards.
It should be fun.

Maybe you take a left at Jacksonville/PCB and grab a handful of us Emerald Coast/Northwest Florida guys around Ft. Walton on the way up? :)

We are planning an "over the hill tour" leaving FL (West Central) here the 21st of July and will be there the 1st or so of August. Our trip includes Southwest CO, UT, Tetons, Yellowstone, Red lodge and Sturgis. E mail me if you want to get together anywhere along the way. 8)

Yo Eric. I thought I'd post something in Feb and see if there was interest about meeting about a week before the Rally again, kind of a SSIII, I don't even know for sure if I can make it as the wife wants to take the Family on a fishing trip in June so that may burn too much of my Vac.

Hey Bud regardless I'll see you in Colorado.

I'll be at the Buffalo Chip by July 31st in the Fenske Park VIP camping area. Have to recommend it. Tab is about a grand if you make reservations early. Before anyone screams about that being too much, that includes a catered buffet dinner each night, free draft beer on tap from noon until 1:30 AM, restricted area right in front of the stage for all concerts, and a fenced camping area, the gate to which is manned by security 24 hrs a day, checking your VIP ID to get in. At first, I had my reservations about the price tag, but figuring what I could have spent out of pocket for dinners and beer, etc (not to mention the extra security, private set of flush toilets, and other extra stuff), on top of the the normal fee for camping in the common area for two weeks, it didn't really cost that much more. Heck, last year they even insisted on setting up my tent for me. Also, great bunch of folks stay in this area. ...not to mention that the always about half-naked, Hawaiian Tropics Contestants stay in there, too. :beer2:

To Huzkers: Nobody really cares what you ride, so long as you ride. I was treated just about the same as I was when I did ride a hog.

Don't be worried about what you ride, I go every year since it's close and fun and unless you have a chip on your shoulder or are looking for trouble you won't have anything but fun! I might see some of you up there this year, I took my X up there last year and was the first time I went on a bike and still had a blast. (Full Throttle rocks!) :D
