Ok I have heard about this kind of stuff but I have never been thru it! I keep the 1800 in my garage & well my question is will it be ok as long as I start it & run around on it every 2-3 weeks? I have not had any "storage" issues in California & well I think it might get a little below frezzing in the garage but then it warms up in the day!.....I know I am probably causing some of you fellow S.Carolina VTX bros to laugh but I had to ask ...at least to make ya chuckle! heh-heh!

You should be ok if you ride it alittle ever few weeks. A around here it
dose not stay below 32 degrees for long. I have no problems riding
my bike in 50 degree weather. After reading different post on this
topic I try to keep a full tank of gas when I know it may set for a few
week. This year my gas tank started leaking gas it rusted from the inside
out. Got a new one of ebay. :D

I bought my bike about 2 years ago form the Charleston SC area.
The bike does not show any other kind of rust problems. I thank
it was a manufature process problem. I talk to honda about it ,but they
would not do anything about it . The bike is a 2002C 1800.
I have a 1999 honda four wheel and it stays out side under a shed
but its gas tank has not rusted out  So you tell me it
was not a manufature problem. I work in the manufature industry
so I know how thing can slip thru the cracks, got to have production
numbers

painted. http://bigbikeriders.com/photopost/data/500/6742vtx5.jpg

IT was a new tank that had alittle damage to the right side, but I was going to paint it anyway so it did not matter to me.
