I put it in my truck today and used it some around town. I have it set for the fastest route and it knows the short cuts. I also have an Iway 500 which did not use the shortcuts. The mounting bracket holds it securley to the windshield with no bounce. I just wish I could have tried it on the bike but we are getting way too much rain. The only thing I don't like about it is I have to hardwire it to the bike and can't use the cigarette plub adapter with it. That can only be used in a vehicle with the vehicle bracket. The plug in on the motorcycle bracket only accepts the hardwire hookup. Would I buy this again, Heck yes! Would I buy it for the retail price  , I don't know about that. Well, I believe I'll sell my Iway 500, it's a great GPS but I'm just not sure about it on a motorcycle.

How can we be surprised? I'm glad to hear of this report; sounds great. But too, I have a venerable old friend GPS in the StreetPilot III that I'm going to be retiring when I get my Zumo on the 28th. There just comes a time when we have to recognize what is the better all-around GPS solution for us and embrace the new technology.
As for the hardwiring, if you peruse or post on the BMW or GL1800 forums, you'll find help on how to wire a cigarette lighter adapter onto your bare Zumo wires to help facilitate your setup. The info is out there.
Best of luck; enjoy your new Zumo (I'm totally jealous), ride SAFE, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

That is so funny...I got mine on Monday & did not get a chance to use it till Wed. afternoon on the way back from work!...AWESOME so far & I have not even begun to explore all it's features! I put the mount on the bike this afternoon!...I would LOVE a QUICK RELEASE set up to get the mount off the bike when I do not really need the ZUMO on board!...I could not find a quick release mount system. THAT is the ONLY think I would like to make this the "perfect" set up for me....other than that this thing is SWEET....I stayed up till almost 2:00AM on Wed Eve just looking at the instructions, loading & messin with the softway...even ploted my 1st trip & well I need to "download it onto the Zumo!?? Hit the wall last night & could not get it into the unit! :?      ALL my bad I am sure! Gonna give the thing a rip in the am on the bike...we shall see!

mgw12,
Go to Garmins site and update your Mapsource software. Couple of us had the same trouble.
