I bought a XM Airwave from ABES in Maine last June. The Airwave is a MyFi like radio. It comes with a 1 year warranty. The headphone jack quit working. Contacted Pioneer and they said they wouldn't honor the warranty because ABES in not a authorized dealer, even though the radio came new in a sealed box.
ABES said they are a dealer but not a dealer exchange. Which means they don't supply an exchange, I guess no one fixes these, they just replace them.
Got ABES to contact Pioneer and they said Pioneer asked that I send a copy of my receipt, but it is not completely clear if I'll get a new radio or when I'll get a specific answer.
Spent the whole afternoon with this and it still isn't resolved. Just contacted Pioneer and they said they would email instructions but they didn't know when exactly... "in a few days".
I doubt if I buy any more Pioneer products, they jacked me around and have made this pretty difficult. Even if they now decide to replace it they blew me off completely at first.
I enjoyed the radio until it broke, it worked great on the bike.
Why would Pioneer supply legitimate merchants with products if that voids the warranty, what a bunch of BS.
ABES has been some help, but they take the position that Pioneer should repair or replace.

thats why it is best to buy from cirket city or best buy and take out the extended warentee. u pay more but no hassels broke u get an exchange on the spot or an equlvent player or gps. been there done that.

Those 2 can be a pain in the but too. I hate to pay for the " it may not work" warranty, but in this case I wish I had got it with an extended warranty locally. If I had got a extended warranty through ABES that may have been void also.
If it don't work out I'll dispute it with the credit card.
