Hello, All --
I just posted the info below in a couple of other spots. I set it up here as a new topic, figuring that more of you will see it this way. It has to do with the "Second Annual Freedom Ride".
Here's the deal:
-- Theme is to show support for our troops overseas.
-- Organize at 9 AM on 5/16 in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot. Registration is only $10 (but that covers tolls, police escorts, etc.). Any unspent money left at the end of the day will go to the PBA.
-- WBAB will be there, and NEWS12 will be covering the entire event.
-- The "convoy" will leave at 10 AM SHARP, and ride the Northern State/Grand Central (with NYS Trooper escort in Nassau, and NYPD Patrol Car and Motorcycle Squad escort in the boroughs) to the Triboro Bridge. South on FDR to WTC Ground Zero. Short break, then uptown to 96th, crosstown through Central Park, then back onto the FDR to the Triboro and back to the Coliseum.
-- I'm told that as of a week ago, over 100 bikers had already committed to going, and most had already paid. I know the guy who organizes it (business connection), and he'll be happy to let you guys jump in at the last minute.
If you're interested, you might want to give him a call on Saturday, just to let him know that you intend to show up. His name is Randolph Leidl, and his cell number is 516 815 7041.
I figure that this is the best, safest way to make a ride to Ground Zero -- as part of a huge group with police escort the entire way.
I hope to see some of you on Sunday!
-- Rich
