Just wondering how everyones rides went today. AFter all the hard work we did this weekend I went for a ride today too. None of the family wanted to tag along so just went alone. Had a nice ride though. WEnt up to Laconnar and then headed over to Highway 9 and came home. I got a bit cold though. Still a bit chilly out there. I am so ready for spring. Just a couple months away.
Got home and took my husband for a ride. Now I am just trying to warm up.

Great ride but as you mentioned, chilly! My toes are starting to gain some feeling in them. I need heated boots and gloves to keep riding in this cooler weather. The rest of me was fine with the suit on.

Here's the cure you need. I been using this stuff for a few years and it really extends my riding season. They are right over on the Hood Canal, and have a store on site  http://www.gerbing.com/

I rode to work today myself. It will prolly be cold when I get off at 11pm

Jon & I finally wrapped up my scoot today (me 10% Jon 90% :) )
Lots of stuff done but the big hang up was some brake line issues when installing the R bars on an 04 C model. Just did a short ride home- maybe 50 miles (Jon lives about 8 miles away) to get a feel for the new tire and bars. Lots of changes and the 8k, de smog and ground fix. New shorter VTXexhaust.com pipe, clutch springs, Stebel and a bunch of wiring.
Thanks again Jon and yes I really did do some of the work :)

Sam really did more than 10%, it was at least 15 or 20% He did the R bars swap and brake lines (which is alot more work than one might think). I did the valve adjust and other 8K stuff. Glad you like the finished product. See you again soon.

Thats great!! I will need to work out with Jon my 8k maintenance pretty soon. I have 7100 miles. Now income tax return will be here so now I have to see how much I can talk my husband into letting me use for the bike.

We did right around 95 miles or so from the rest stop
to Sumas. Does not count the return trip. Wandering up
the West side of I5. Roland again took me over at
least one road I have never seen before. I had
expected most of the roads that we traveled to be dry
and clear. For the most part they were. But there were
a few spots to make you consider. As we got further
north it seemed to get colder. At least I had to turn
up my heat. Cannot believe that it took me so long to
get my Electic Jacket and Gloves.

Here is a link to a Ride Page for Rolands Ride II. Around 10 bikes.

Sounds great. I am still a bit gun shy about riding in groups. Although since plans changed today I almost joined but I would have been too cold for that long of a ride. I need to talk my husband into letting me get some gerbing stuff. Waiting to hear how much he will get for a lawsuit in
Feb. Then I think I will invest in some warmer gear. Although as of tomorrow I will only have a 4 mile commute to work. I don't think I will have time to get cold.
I am ready for some warmer weather thats for sure.

GF Shirley and I attempted to join Randy and the group for the ride. Just riding from N. Seattle to the rest area to meet the group we got cold enough that reality was that we would have suffered all day. Met up with friends at the rest stop and decided to pass on the group ride, so went and had a late breakfast and rode a bit out to Snohomish. Hit the road back to Seattle about 2:30PM, which was doable, but still pretty chilly.

This morning we saddled up and I dropped Shirley off at work downtown, then I buzzed back to Ballard to work. There was a bit of ice on the side roads, but we got through it ok.

All that heated gear is starting to sound like a good investment...sigh...there goes a bunch more money....damn!

My wife says I'm going to get frostbite. :D I think Hippo hands might be the trick for me - thinking about making some for around $15 vs. paying $90 for the same thing.

Rode in to Tukwila today from Graham - about a 45 minute jaunt. Was 26 degrees out when I left. The ride home this afternoon will be warmer. :D

I rode 15 miles!! Still to cold for a x cali boy. Was nice to be out though. Heard my bike backfire when she was warming up never heard that before. It had been 4 weeks or so.
Hope spring comes in february here. At least I have got tons done outside with no rain.

Sounds like it was decent for riding this past weekend.

Me? Haven't fired the bike up since September... don't even know if it starts.

I'll get bit by the riding bug in the next few weeks, will definately have to get together with some of the WA VTXer's and ride. Just don't feel like it right now... too cold.

Mark my words. Some day you will just decide not to let the weather waste your life away. Gear up and get out.

On a cool day have you ever put on a warm t shirt from the dryer. That is what a heated (gerbing) liner feels like. Add the gloves, fleece lined carharts, and a full face helmet. Just watch out for ice.

Any working mans store like Work and More. There is also Whistle Stop, or something like that. Most outdoor stores.

Online at Cabelas or sportsman.

You might check out this special at Sportsman. Jus ut today. I ordered 2 pair. You would pay around $40 each for these locally

I think the Fleece is warmer then the Flannel. You can find fleece on this site as well. But once you add shipping you lose any real savings

Where is income coming from?

Thanks

Also try your local feed stores. Farmers know how to dress warm and still be able to move around. Should be lots out in your neck of the woods. :)

Look for a "Big R" store, they will always have a supply on hand of Carhart's. If Carharts are out of the budget look for the "Key" brand, almost as warm not as spendy, it just will not stand up to as much work use. Sportsmans as listed above has pretty good prices.

When shopping Carhart remember to look at the color of the lining red is regular lining, black is arctic, warmer but bulkier, and polar fleece over flannel, work in layers and you can get by with not much bulk. Polar fleece will come in different thickness's as well, 100 for cool weather up to 300 or arctic.

Oh....my bike has not moved since Nov 1, too much fog, ice, snow, and sand on every intersections, shoulder, turn lane etc. Temp hasn't been past 30 since December,Ski's have 40 days on them so I'm a happy camper
