One of the Worst rides I have been on was in the summer of 02 at the Honda Hoot in Tennessee.

We had singed up for a ride at the hoot called Ride to Road Mountain.
This ride started in Knoxville and ended up in a small town for lunch. Sounds like a good time right :?: This ride is a self guided ride that at the sign in you are provided a small map that was copied form an atlas or something like that.
So there we are signed in and on our own :D luckily we asked a couple of wing riders if we could tag along for the ride. Of course this is after we came to the conclusion the map was just about worthless :!: So there we are tagging along with some wing rides on the interstate when BAM the heavens opened up it gates and just about washed us off the road. :rain1: Now the wing rides are definitely set up for any type of weather as the just motored right on down the highway and we did our best to keep it between the lines. :x Finally we made our way off the interstate to a 2 lane road that was suppose to take us right to our destination. Again this is where the map provided was totally useless on the ride and as luck would have we were able to jump in with a group of bikes headed to the same destination we both thought good deal were on the right trail now  HA HA not quite TWICE we (the whole group) had to stop at intersections and try to figure out what way to go! Now remember for about 80% of this ride was done in a toad strangling rain. :rain1: Finally we made to the small town for lunch and after relaxing our nerves we found someone with a good map and picked the most direct route back to our hotel where we just sat and thought man that SUCKED ASS!

Now as I look back on this little adventure I can see how unprepared we were and what to expect the next time we set out with crappy maps. But hey I think Ryan and I did an excellent job with what we had been dealing with especial when we both got out bikes just a 5 months earlier that spring.

I think that ranks up in the top 5 of my most suck ass rides. :badabing:

Yah, I think that was probably the worst for me - and I had only had my bike since April '02 - just a short 3-4 months under my belt of riding.

my ride to remember was in North Carolina, I rode to the beach for the weekend, being lucky I won alot of stuff animals playing the game of chance. I lace them together with a hanger to sissy bar and headed home. About an hour into the ride, it start to rain and hail. Lucky for us NC requires a helment. We stopped at local stop and fight bar to let it blow over. About a hour and more than few beers later we was on our way. Only to hit another storm. This one was just one hard down pour that only lasted about 3 miles. The next town we hit, they had not seem any rain or bad weather. The sun was out hot and you guess it, not a cloud in the sky. I needed some dry garments. Walked in Kmart, and purchased Tshirt, pants, and socks. The cashier ask why is everything I have including the money so wet. I told her I just took a shower and fresh out of towels. BTW. The stuff animals never made it. Another road kill down US HWY 421.

the worst weather for me was 2006 chicago toys for tots parade. the weather when we started was in the single digits. My neighbor and I arrived at the park early to take pictures and meet some folks. We stood in the park for about two hours before the parade started. After the parade started, I went about 8 blocks at 10 miles per hour and thought to myself that I am not going to make. I rode out a few miles and then the body, hands and feet went numb. thought I was going to die but I made it and let me remind you the weather was in the single digits. if the weather in 2007 toys for tots parade is as cold, I will gladly do it again, it was for a good cause.

I believe the year was 1990-01. I was just rapping up, (just short of) 4 months on the road, just myself and my bike. I was dead-heading out of Big Bear in CA, went through the desert and started to head east. That was the year "El Niño" was pushing bad weather from the west coast to the east coast, and we had all that snow and freezing weather. I rode in freezing rain/sleet and snow for three days. The average temp was 31 degrees. I have no idea what that is with chill factor. When I arrived in McHenry, that's where I lived then, I had a 1-1/2" ice all over me. My buddy had to break it up with a hammer so I could get my jacket off. BTW I didn't have any heated clothing.
One of the funny things that happened was when I was pulling into Albuquerque I didn't realize that I had frozen rain drops all over my face shield, so when I pulled into a street lit area it was like looking through the eyes of a fly or a multi-facetted prism. I couldn’t ride any further so I had to stop where I was and try and scrape the ice off. F’n cars were beeping and going nuts. Those were some crazy times.
