I am thinking of moving to West Virginia, charleston area, and I am needing an apartment. It HAS to be a good neighborhood because I have a 12mo year old daughter. The thing that hurts us is we have a dog and most places there won't accept them.

I have a couple of ideas:

Any help would be appreciated!!!! Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Stay away from the west side. How close do you want to be to charleston, the towns around it are more suited for families and such.

Teays Valley, Crosslanes, Winfield, Nitro, St. Albans are a few.

Which one is considered the west side? Is charleston a rough town?

I don't think either of the two you posted are on the west side.

Charleston isn't that bad I just wouldn't want to live there, I mean it is a city and all. Traffic sucks in the morning and the evenings, not a lot of room for anything... you know your typical city, just smaller.

Where you want to live depends on where you are working. If you work in Charleston I would try something closer than Hurricane. I've lived in the South Hills area of Charleston for 20+ years - only 5 minutes to downtown. Good schools, very little crime. Try Hickory Hills Apts. (304) 925-2733. check them out at - kanawhavillage.com They do take pets sometimes. This weather really sucks - anybody tried to ride recently?

Thanks for the ideas. I called Hickory Hills but they haven't called back. I don't care where I live, just as long as it's in a VERY safe neighborhood!!

Hey Jon, When you get settled in give me a shout. I'm only about an hour away. There is some fantastic scenery and twisties around this area.

Jon... Wish I could tell you something about it but unfortunately I can't.
I do know that about 20 min west of Dunbar is a rapidly growing suburb Teays Valley. Very nice area.
