I just moved down to Kinston and I am in need of a valve adjustment. My 1300 is a 2005 and has about 2900 miles on it. Any help on where to go would be greatly appreciated. This NC weather is A LOT different than the weather in Buffalo, NY! It’s late February and I have had my bike out as much as I did in May up north! Any other riding info would be great! Thanks

If you're looking for dealer, Ron Ayers motorsports in Greenville, NC is not far from you and has fair prices.

2900 miles seem way early for a valve check to me

MLCNC, is correct 2900 miles is to early for a valve adjustment. The HONDA OEM manual for the 1800 VTX states at every 8000 miles to do this check. The First couple of checks (8K & 16K) are the most important and should be performed at the suggested milage!! If not damaged valves could result from being to tight or loose. Check your owners manual for the maintenance schedule for the 1300.
Hope this helps and welcome to the Carolinas,

I need a valve adjustment also and live in Apex, just outside Raliegh. Any recomendations. I was gonna do it myself, but damn what a tight squeeze. I think I am gonna trust this to someone else. Oh and I have 8K miles.
THanks in advance,

Agent Orange just loves to help doing valve adjustments! Ask him really nice and maybe he'll help you!
Just kiddin Matt. You need to come to the beach for a visit. We are almost settled in and have plenty of room.
Randy - I'll be expecting you and Wolfin down here soon also. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up in Goldsboro.

I'll be down soon! I also need to get my butt in gear and either do the valve adjustment or take it in to Team Powersports and have it done. Heck, I've already paid for it upfront.
By the way, there may be some changes coming to the Wolfin X in the near future .

I'd check around. I paid for periodic maintenance with the package I bought. I did the 4000 mile and they were supposed to do the coolant, oil, plugs and something else (along with an oil change but I had just gotten done doing one so they didn't). I really don't know if they did a thing to the bike :? . It was in the shop for about half an hour  .
Doug
P.S. - don't know exactly what is in the future but there will be a change in the X.

Welcome to the Carolinas! I'm only 45 min South of you on Hwy258, there are a couple Xriders down here in J'ville. I'm originally from PA, so I hear what you're saying about the weather, and I don't miss the snow at all, (my son does though).

I have a pair of itchy tinker hands, new set of feeler gauges and offset wrenches that can be used for the valve adjustment...if we want to plan a tech day, let me know...
