Hey guys,

Is there anyone familiar with the Knoxville area, that would be willing to organize and reserve a place for all us VTX rider's to meet one evening during the Hoot?

Not everyone, on the board in general, is as familiar with the area, or close enough to make arrangements as some of you are.

Your help would be great...and we could have a fantastic time getting together.

Email me or send a pm and I'll help as much as I can.

Thanks,
Mark

I live just outside of Knoxville and will look into things but I think I need more info. Are we talking reserving a group of tables at a restraunt or would there be a large group of vtxers that might merit the banquet room at, say Buddy's Barbeque. Domestics verses good microbrews? Lots of options.

Hey, Mark, maybe it's time for one of your polls. That way we can get a rough estimate of the headcount, and help out MarkX, or any other Volunteers to pull this off. Anything I can do to help towards this end - I'm there.

Poll is up on the General board.

:D

During the Hoot last year, KC (aka - Wilbur) had tried to pull this off and it went OK, but with the crowds in Knoxville at that time of the year you'd have to be willing to pay to reserve somewhere big enough and get enough people to commit (and pay) on the front end, or else it won't work without someone ramrodding it through. We all ended up sitting throughout the restaurant last year, but being what it was, it wasn't too bad. All the X's sitting in the parking lot was probably one of the nicest things about it!! JMHO.

Wet blanket!! At least if we can get everyone together in one place, it will be great.

(btw pogo, thanks for the info...at least we'll know what to expect)

Mark in Atl,

I lived in the Knoxville area for years. I agree with markx that Buddy's Barbeque would be a good location (great food and not too expensive). There are several sites in town, but, personally, I would suggest the one on Broadway at I-640 because it has easy access and generally not as crowded as the others. It is in the northeast section of town, not too far from the park. The telephone number would probably be a 687 prefix (Fountain City). But I am not sure about their capacity.

And count me in for Friday night. I should be in sometime on Friday.

You guys would be the best to know, and we'd need someone to arrange the local spot. Markx, can you call Buddy's to check it out and see if any problems arrise? From some comments I've gotton, it appears we need to make it an early thing...around 5:00. Lots of folks are going to the Atomic Speedway for the 8:30 races.

The thread in the General board is growing...over 40 now.

Mark in Atl,

Check my other post. After you mentioned the race, I updated my suggestion. The track is way west of Knoxville off I-40, so my suggestion about Buddy's wouldn't. I suggest looking at something in Lenoir City, which is much closer. The Hwy 321 and I-75 interchange is only about 15 miles from the track, but would have several places available. Unfortunately, it has grown a lot since I left, so I won't know them all. Maybe someone local could secure a location. The only place I could think of was the Dinner Bell.

Guys, we really need someone in east TN to come through for us. Since there are a lot of folks going to the Atomic Speedway Friday night, I would suggest a nooner....BYOL (bring your own lady :D) or around 5:00.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Three D,

Thanks for the post link. I added some info there.

MarkinAtl,

5 PM on a Friday would not be a good idea, IMHO. Think Atlanta on a smaller scale with road construction. West Knoxville is not a pretty sight around that time. So earlier would be better, IMO. Or stay away from West Knoxville.

Hey folks, my wife and I and another couple are coming down for the Hoot. Where staying at a cabin in Sevierville, thinking of coming down Sunday or Monday. Anyone have suggestions on must do, thinks to check out, and what not? Has a final place to gather the X'ers been worked out? Lookin' forward to meeting fellow riders in the TN area. Ride On! Bob.

Bob,

Can't help on things to do that are Hoot related. But if you are staying in Sevierville, there's plenty to do in that area alone. Riding in the mountains would top my list. PM me if you want and I can pass along some others.

As for VTX gatherings, there is one on Thursday at Cowboy's Seafood Resturant on Douglas Dam Road off I-40 (time unknown to me) and another on Friday at 4 PM at the Mandarin House off Merchants Drive in North Knoxville (just off I-75).

Hope to see ya there.
