I know that my bike only gets 100 miles on a full tank when I take it easy. So what we'll do is fill up the bikes when we first get on the road, and use my bike as a gauge to determine when a GAS stop is needed.

If you want to stop anywhere else let me know. I know the area pretty well so we can deviate from the course pretty easily.

Anyone is welcome on this ride, the more the better. Let me know if you have any questions.

The date is the July 24th. :D :D

I hope for Tammy and I to make it, but union hinting at giving notice today of intent to strike. If so it could last a while. I guess there are times you just have to bite the bullet Let's hope not!! :( . If open and able to make, I have the weekend of the 11th and 24th open.

Just a couple suggestions for the trip.
There is a great little place in N Adams (Where you go from rt7 then go on rt 2 a few miles), about a mile before you make the climb up the mountain into Florida MA, there is a small diner on the right with a 50's ish kind of theme. Good burger joint. If you pass it, you won't find another one till Greenfield.. Also, take moment when you travel 2 and stop by the river, great scenery. You also might want to take a quick detour off of rt 2 and swing into Turners Falls for the "Bridge of flowers" (Assuming the girls are with you of course). Guys can always check out the Lamson Goodnow Knife factory. (I beleive it is still there). As far as how to get back, I would definately suggest rt 5, Plus you can stop in at Yankee candle. I wouls stay on 5 at least until you get to Wspfld. After that it's too many lights.

If it's planned for the 17th,perhaps I can join you guys. The 24th I'll be going to Carlisle PA meet. It's both cars and bikes...

Also, A great ride that you might want to consider if you haven't done it already, is the Taconic Parkway. Starting around 84 and going north to Albany. The road is very unique and the scenery is great.

Members, just an update that we do not have a time or a route written in stone. I have yet to talk to our Road Captain to plan it out. We also do not know who jdubes is either. He is not currently listed under this name as a member with the Connecticut X Riders. We will post a time and place when we have worked things out with the Road Captain Jeff. Thank you.

Hi David,

Yep i am a registered member, and Tammy Luthy has my contact info. My full name is Jason Dubreuil. You are correct i am not listed under this name. In my excitement to join the group, i used Slappy by mistake. My email is rockmp3er@att.net.

I'm not familiar with the road captin concept, so could you shed some light on that for me?

At the Hopyard meeting we all decided that the Greylock ride was going to be a club event. That is not the problem. The problem is this all the plans for the Greylock ride should have been sent to our Road Captain for reveiw. Granted when the ride was first posted we did not have a road captain or officers or an official club.
Since that day forward the minutes were posted with all the information that was discussed and we did agree the Greylock ride was to be. SOOOOOOO with all that said I feel strongly that the Greylock ride plans should be going thru Jeff our road captain.

Jdubes please send your riding plans to jeffleduc@sbcglobal.net for reveiw. If any one has any questions please don't hesitate to call me at home after 9:00 tonight at 860-878-6839.

Thanks

Sheik

Thanks Steve,

In the future I'll definitely send ride ideas up to Jeff. Now that I know how the club works, we won't have a communication issue like this again. Also, many thanks for pointing out the core issue I've had with this discussion from the start.

There is one point I need to make very clear here, and then I'll move on.

This forum that we post to is a public forum. You do not need to be a member of your club to post messages on this public forum. You also don't need to be a member of your club to submit rides on this public forum.

Having said that, the original ride to Greylock from my post will go on. The only reason why i'm saying this, is because i have many people that are going on this ride from out of state and from the CT area that are marching towards the 10:30 time-line. If i had known about the club process back in May, i would have deffinetly worked the plans through Jeff. My excitement to create a ride that everyone would enjoy was my only agenda item.

Thanks Jason

Jason is going to have a meet point at the capital for riders near and East of Hartford leaving Hartford I believe between 10:15 and 10:30. I will meet riders who are west of Hartford off exit 44 on Route 8 in Torrington at 11:00 at the Burger King. Jason will meet us with his group at Burger King around 11 to 11:15. Riders, remember to bring your HELMETS due to the fact we are riding into Massachussetts. In Torrington we will have a quick meeting and will then take a consensus on the route for the day. Steve will be on vacation out of state, and Jeff will not be able to make this run possibly at this time.

All riders please be sure to have a helmet. We do not need to get stopped in Massachussetts for violating their helmet laws.

Sounds great, wish I was going with you guys. I am leaving first thing Friday morning for a ride to Maine. I have two weeks off and am going to spend them relaxing on the lake up there. Have fun and ride safe.
