Comparing Exhausts- A Service

There are lots of riders looking to compare exhausts- sounds, performance, etc. Performance can be checked by dynos, sounds are a bit different.

I would like to suggest that the next time the WI & IL riders get together we do some recordings of the different set ups. Nothing real long just a few seconds, maybe 30 secs. max. With all of the bikes and different set ups we could put together the beginnings of an exhaust sound library. The specifics would have to be worked out but I'm thinking a set distance away from the bike, set height, set rpms, and pretty similar weather conditions. We could then post this for the rest of the VTXers.

IF we got this started we could then post the parameters so others around the country could do the same recordings. It will never be exact but at least it's someplace to start.

"Sounds" like a great idea. Don't know how you "techies" would work that out but sounds good.

seems like a good idea. good quality sounds files for 30 seconds of exhaust note on maybe 30 different configurations wouldn't be too big to store somewhere. all it would take is some high quality digital recording equipment and some storage space and someone who will to take the time to set it up. We could then add a link to a table of sound clips to the WI VTXRiders website that is under construction.

I'm guessing Skinny's post has some inside meaning.

I'd be willing to come up with the parameters and to set up the recordings, as for "high tech equipment" though I was thinking of something as simple as a digital recorder.

BBA, Skinny is referring to the fact that the early risers of the group (the same ones that went to bed early) got up, started their very loud motorcycles....woke everyone in the damn place up...shut them down and yelled "Time to get up, breakfast at Paul Bunyuns!!"

We thought, 'screw that' and rolled over for that extra hour of sleep.

Early???!!?? Gbert and I were the last 2 back to the hotel. Everyone else was tucked away soundly asleep in the their beds. It is just when you live the kind of healthy pure lifestyle such as we do ... you don't need much sleep :beer2: :beer3: :pepper1:

Sounds like you all had an interesting and sleep filled time in the Dells. Wished I could have made that one. Hopefully the next one.
