Seems like there are a lot of friendly VTX riders south of Atlanta who I've not had a chance to meet yet!
So, let's throw out some ideas for a good RTE location from Macon south (that seems like a large enough area!). Anything within 4 hours of Atlanta is fair game.
Please nominate restaurants with great food, interesting decor, easy access, and plenty of parking! Make sure the place is open by 11:30 AM on Saturdays please.
Home cooking, BBQ, seafood, hotdog joints all sound like possibilities. In submitting a nomination please provide a URL, if possible, or at least a great description of what we can expect.
Then all We'll need to do is pick a weekend in late May or early June that's not a conflict with other VTX events.
Have VTX; will ride for food and good company!

Jim,
Great idea!
I vote for either Buckners in Jackson GA (40 miles south of Atlanta on I-75)

Or the Bullock House Restaurant in Warm Springs, Ga.
It’s an all you can eat southern buffet with lots of parking and some good riding nearby.

Ok, I have never been here, but Milledgeville seems like a good destination. It's about 92 miles from Decatur, 165 miles from Savannah. Anyone know anything more or any place there?

I rode with some friend's out of Columbus one day last year to a Mennonite run restaurant in Montezuma, GA. Yoder’s Deitsch Haus. Prices were reasonable, and for those of you that know me...I was stuffed before I finished my plate. It looks like it will be about 2 1/2 hrs for the ATL crowd and maybe a little over 3 for the SAV folks. Here's a link to their writ-up on roadfood.com and a map on Yahoo.

Blackwing and Captain Flamingo, please share your thoughts. I realize that ya'll rode up to Augusta (and we owe you a ride down). You guys want to go ahead an setup an RTE for next month? Or, woudl you like to come up this way again? When are oyster's the best? Is it months ending in "r" . . . like September? hehe
All, I've heard a rumor about an Amish/Menonite restaurant between Macon and Andersonville. Don't know much more. Anyone able to tell us about such a place?
Jim
PS: You know, we could do a RTE each month during riding season. Maybe we should look for an interesting place to eat in North West GA for August (and escape the heat!)

Jim, you are really gonna have to read a little closer.

Yikes! My bad. When I read "out of Columbus" I thought "south of Columbus."
All the nominees so far sound really good. Yoder’s Deitsch Haus. is particularly interesting.
Let's see if other ideas emerge.

I can swing my vote to the Yoder place. Sounds just as good.
Maybe plan a trip to both!!!????

Hmmmmmm..... ok…… well..... WoW!
I like the idea!
I’m in! … and my riding buddy likes the idea too!
And maybe his brother and wife too too who lives in Stockbridge. (another Kawa)
My riding buddy bought a shinny new and slick looking Kawa Vulcan Nomad that is temporarily housed in my Garage.
Every time I go out to admire my own cycles, I look at his and say that is one damn nice looking cycle!
I vote for the Yoder’s Deitsch Haus but all the suggestions sound interesting enough to try out.

Well, looks like we have consensus about Yoder’s Deitsch Haus in Montezuma, GA as the site of our Ride To Eat.
No, which Saturday would be the best time for our get together? How's June 9th look for everyone?

How's June 16th sound to everyone?
It's the Saturday before Hoot. We might spread the word across several lists and see if other who are riding to Hoot want to join us.

6/16 should be good for us, barring any unforseen problems like a dead battery ;)

Now don't go gettin' "Mr. Electricity" all riled up! There are several "older" Yuasa batteries hidden amongst our machines. Never know who might be visited by the battery grimlin next!
Trixie, I'm looking forward to seeing you again! Will you be bringing old "what's his name" with you this time?
As soon as we hear from others I'll start a new thread with a list and gathering points. If you and Blackwing would let me know the route you plan to take and suggest a couple of gathering points that might make it easier for newcomers to join our adventure.

Well, the new schedule is not finalized yet, but it looks like I will be working that weekend of the 16th so I can't make this one. :( Now if ya want to do it on Thu or Fri - I'm all over it...

I'm trying to round up a few folks from south GA to ride that way on the 16th... I'm coming with or w/o them providing this is still a go for some of you all ...
Just let me know what time most plan to arrive and if June 16th is still a go date ... .
Thanks,
David - Valdosta

Yoder’s Deitsch Haus sounds interesting to me too. Anyone from the Newnan, Peachtree City, Fayetteville want to meet then head that way?
