After about a year of eavesdropping on this board, I am stepping out from the shadows. I am Scribe. Hello to all!!
I have been the proud owner of an X since May of 2006. Shortly after that I was at a TWTuesday at Culvers on 124th and was handed a card from a WIVO with the website on it.
First of all, let me say I have learned SO-O-O-O much in the past year by reading the various posts on the Wisconsin, Illinois and general message boards, as well as from the WIVO's at TWT.
My starter bike was an '03 HD Sportster 883, and I gained a lot of confidence riding it, but soon realized that I needed to move on to a different bike if I was going to do any serious riding.
In March of 2006, four of us trailered our bikes to Florida. What a trip that was!! We parked the trailer in central FLA, unloaded the bikes and off we rode - visiting various family members on the gulf coast, riding through the Everglades, down the Keys and then up to Daytona for bike week. While there we took demo rides on several bikes, the VTX being one of them. Upon our return to Wisconsin, 3 of us bought 1300's - the 4th person already rode an 1800.
I have not regretted it. I love this bike, I rode the Sportster - I OWN the X!!
Which brings me to why I decided to finally register and post on the board. Among the things I was told about at TWT were your Dells ride (I just picked up my bike from storage on Saturday so could not go) and the July VTX rally in Colorado, which I plan to attend. (I am registered as Fuschia by a friend that made up a handle for me.) I'm sure I will have many questions before that event.
So, I am sorry to be so long-winded on this, my first post, but I wanted to give you some background. Hi to everyone and I hope to do some riding with you in coming months.
