04 1300 R ,exhaust has been changed(no rejetting). I got my block off plates and K&N filter ready to install. What is the best all round jet kit to use and is it stage 1,2,or3. I,m sure a lot of you have already done the try this one and that one and maybe save the other of us some time. I'm going to use the stock filter cover just cut the tube on top and drill some holes ,or maybe get brave with my Drimmell. Thanks for any help and light yall may shed on this project.

I have a 1300c . Last valve adjustment I did a few things to the engine.

New plugs
removed pair valve
drilled out the front of the stock air box
K&N air filter
HardKrome K2s

I installed a Dyno Jet stage one kit. I think I used the 4th slot, no shim 200 main jet and 2.5 turns on the adjust.

Also adjusted the idle down to hear the great offset rumble.

Runs great. Lost some back pressure (and low end torque), but it opened up the top. Takes a bit to warm up too since my idle is too low for that now.

Frog, I guess I have been lucky so far. I installed HK 2.5, then K&N air filter. The bike has a great throttle response and runs like its on fire!!
No rejet as of yet. Cant say I need to.

Frog:

DON'T RE-JET if you are not putting mroe air INTO the system... HotFix drilled out his airbox to get more airflow which is why he re-jetted... trust me on this - - - don't re-jet... if you decide to leave the box alone, that is... once you drill the box I will assume it will all depend on how much you drill as to what you need to do to jet...

good luck!

How much Low end did you lose?
I have a spare set of stock pipes I am thinking of gutting.
I have heard a pair of these and they are loud and mean.
I dont want to do this if its going to kill my power though.
I also dont want to have to rejet although I do understand I would probably have to remove the pair valve.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks

Here is what I did with mine. It isn't as extreme as what the late, great Dan did, but I wanted air to get shoved in the front with no other way out except through the engine.

I may eventually try that mod. If I do that mod I will need to rejet like LJFNJ said.

I first need to gut the pipes I have.

I am sure I will also have to do the pair valve soon after.

I will probably start with a small exhaust exit and drill them out untill I am happy with the sound. I dont want to go any larger than needed to try to preserve some back pressure.

Maybe I can have this done by next Vortex meet.

TCT. The Clayton Mod is a well developed exhaust mod to a 1300. 7 holes are drilled (for get the size) to create a deeper sound than stock. No rejetting is needed. I wouldn't recommend changing the air box and filter unless you drastic alter the exhaust (i.e. pull the baffles or add slip ons - drilling holes is not enough).

Anyone here have the Clayton mod done to their pipes? Stand and I had it before we got new pipes. It may help TCT hear one before he decides what to do.

I already did the holes in the back. It sounds ok like that.

I have a 2nd pair of stock pipes I was thinking of gutting out the baffles and putting in an adjustable baffle in the rear of the gutted pipes.

I have welding and cutting tools so devising some kind of adjustable baffle shouldnt be too hard. My main concern is losing torque and having to rejet.

I could just go buy a set of pipes but, I like doing stuff like this and its free.

Besides I gotta save my money for bullets !!

I may be mistaken, but I think MotoMike has the Clayton mod on his scooter.

I put the K&N filter in the stock box, rode it around a while and did not like the way it ran. No bottom end and was sluglish very much so from the start. That is why I will need to do the whole mod, block off plates, new filter and air box mods. I have already changed my plugs at about 14K and the plugs were in great shape, did nto need to change but did any way. Sounds like the stage 1 kit is what I need and I think that is what Dan had in his. Thanks for the help and that will be a good Sat. project after baseball is over.

Thanks LJFNJ. It looks like someone beat me to them.

I will keep an eye on this. If it pops back up I will try to get them.

I am not in a hurry to change anything though.
