So, not much happenin’ today so I decide to see how far I could go after the
reserve light came on.

I did the fuel pump mod last winter,
http://bareasschoppers.com/fuelpump
for older bike with internal fuel pumps you take out the pump and bend it so
it will pick up more gas.

I got 187 miles total on the tank, mostly freeway driving.
And I got 52 miles after the warning light came on, highway miles about 60 to 70 mph

… I guess I’ll stop worrying when I hit 100 miles.

Hello gents...Say I am still in Iraq....but have always hated my gas milage. I tried to click the link above about the gas Mod but I was denied access. Unsure if that is becuase I am here or what. I would love to get that kinda milage. I am due home here shortly. Can anyone tell me a little more about this mod, how much ball park, and if it works, ( average improvement). I have a 2003 1800C. Havent riden it for almost 2 years by the time I get home this summer. ( I am in 34th MN National Guard Unit that got extended).
Thanks

he's shouldn't have the url after try this one

the mod is not tuff, you basicly lower the position of intake positin in your tank. and is relativly safe........ submerge pumps rely on the surrounding gas to cool them. on 100 degree days i would not run mine dry if i did it

hope this helps, we need a date of arrival to have a welcome back tour for ya.

So how many gal. did it take?

Well, I put in a gal
drove about 4 miles to gas station and put in 4.2 gal.

My guess is there was about a .2 of a gal left in the tank
that the pump can't get.

If your light came on at 135 this time. When did it come on before you did the mod? How much of a change would you say?
Thanks for the info

To tell you the truth I don't know.

I got the bike last labor day and did the mod in December.
I did a couple of decent trips last fall but I was chicken to run too far.
I know the light came on at about 110 of freeway miles (80+ mph)

From what guys say on the broad the amount the pump we leave
can vary a lot.
