I can remember buying ethyl for .63 and around the same time unleaded hit the market, unleaded sold for $1.15 / gal.

I can remember going down to Edith's cafe carrying a five gallon metal gas can and a $5.00 bill, Ernie would be intoxicated on Sterling and over flow the can, I would still get change back out of the $5.00

Times have changed!

Compared to these days, yes it was cheap. Back then, people would resort to the siphon hose, and I was involved in baiting a thief with a five gallon can of water with some gas on top

I know I'm showing my age here, but when I started driving I usually paid around $0.32 per gallon ... the lowest I paid was during a "gas war" in Wausau WI for $.19 per gallon. I drove a 65 Mustang and often got gas money from friends to take them somewhere ... we could do a lot of riding around for not much money. The good ole days ... err, ahh, What Woot Said

Yeah......(sigh), I remember riding in the family pickup to town....dad would buy me a bottle of orange crush, and he would buy a plug of tobacco. Those were the good ole days. Dad would complain about high gas prices, at .29 cents a gallon.

Today, dad don't drive a whole lot....
