WHOA DAMMIT!!!!
LOOK AT THIS EMAIL I JUST GOT FROM DON JONES OVER AT HONYAM -
Hey TJ, we got a special shipment of 2005 VTX1800 Retros and N models. They are the spec 3’s with all of the chrome and polish. They normally retail for around $14000 to $15000 dollars and then you add fees and tax to it. I wanted to extend a special offer to the VTXOA guys that have 1300’s or just want a new 1800 to come in and upgrade. You guys can pick your color, the special price for you guys will be $11100 plus tax and tag. If you have a trade in, (VTX1300) we’ll do wholesale trade in. Go to Kelly Blue Book and look up the trade in and print it out. We’ll give you that for Trade in, minus deductions for any repairs or maintenance. If it needs tires, or something, we will deduct that from the trade in. This is a no B.S. deal. You guys come and check it out. Come ask for me or Clay Wallace ONLY. This is for you guys and your friends, anyone you guys want to get on a VTX, just make sure they ask for me, or Clay.
Let me know what you think.
Are you going to be at bike night at Buffalo ’s on Wednesday?
Thanks,
Don Jones

Or if you don't want to fool with an old 05 model get an 06 for under 10 grand: http://www.southernhonda.com/new_vehicl ... otorcycles (http://www.southernhonda.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?sid=03301813X6K27K2007J12I1 7I06JPMQ1606R0&veh=25681&CatDesc=Motorcycles)

Or, if you don't wanna spend all night tryin' to discredit someone giving you a deal on SPEC 3'S, not a picture of a Spec 1, or some random post from an internet parts dealer(? ....you gonna have one FedEx'd to you? )
You could call one of these guys and let them try to make you a deal.
Let's try to keep the "know-it-all-discrediting the other guy" crap on the General Board....we've become accustomed to a degree of civility around here -
Geez...I'm surprised ya'll didn't toss in an ebay link or two while you're at it :P :P :P
The guy sent me that, and I forwarded to you guys...NOT so you can pick it apart and figure out how to drive to Kalamazoo Michigan to save 200.00.
All my love,

$200 or is it $2000? Just because you have joined that dealership dosen't mean I will support it. They over charge on both bikes and service. Even the few parts they have are over priced. A trip to Chatanooga or South Florida to buy a bike at more than 2000 bucks less is well worth it to me. And I'm not discrediting you, just getting out all the facts.

damn dude....take it easy...I've not "joined" anyone. I'm VTXOA before I'm anything....I'm just helpin the dude out....don't get all worked up.
My POINT is, the guy has a decent buy on some bikes. You, me, and a few others may not have use for the deal but others might.
I'm CERTAIN there's probably some negotiable things in those numbers...but let's not fault the guy for trying to make a living.
He's also offered to basically let you set your trade allowance among other things. You kinda missed that fact dude, while we're on this quest for higher knowledge and all... :)
In all fairness though, I WOULD like to compare DRIVE OUT TO DRIVE OUT. Anyone can post a lowball price to get someone in the building. I do it every day. I have $9.99 leather cell phone covers, and have hundreds in stock.
Those get you to stop so I can sell you one for $24.99
Few parts? Man, do yourself a favor and just stop in there sometime. YES...WE ALL AGREE that the labor rate is over the top.....but I challenge you to buy tires INSTALLED cheaper. You give some, you get some....see what the have to offer, use what you can....discard the rest.
You ain't gotta love 'em....but you should take some time to try to get to know the guys.....they ain't half bad bro -

Any Honda dealer can make money selling those left overs for $9k. My local shop is, but they have the best deals around.
I understand what you are trying to do (help the guy out) and I understand what he is trying to do (take advantage of you trying to help him out)
This is just my opinion

OK I'll jump in on both sides here.
I agree, that doesn't seem like that great of a deal.
(Disclaimer: I got mine at Southern Honda, and I haven't seen anybody come even close to touching them on new prices.)
Geo cut me a pretty good deal on my mirrors and stinger trap door. I will check with them about tires when it's time. They are trying to earn our business.
But, I ain't going to be in the market for a new bike for a long time anyway. I love the way my 1300 rides and sounds. Plus I got too much time and effort in mine.

Ok gents...I get the point.
He's not giving them away, and I apologize.
I'll send him a note that says "For the future, if you're not selling them at .25 over invoice please refrain from notifying me. Further, how dare you try to run a profitable business".
Look...I just got an email from one of you saying I use the boards to "promote" too much. I'm not in the motorcycle business, and I'm not in the habit of scouring ebay, Bike Trader, and every dealership within 500 miles to save $9.73 on a bike. I see it, I like it I buy it. The End.
I don't tend to consider scraping it to the bone neccessarily the mark of a good deal. I'm big on customer service, and the warm fuzzy feeling.....Did they earn my money, and did they act like it mattered to them if I do business there....I guess I'm just screwed up that way.
I thought it sounded like a good deal, so I passed it on...period.
Get outta my face about "joining the dealership" or "promoting the dealer" or what the hell ever else you wanna call it.
This isn't the 1st time someone has posted about some deal somewhere, and just because a few of you got some sand in your vaginas about labor rates now they're the devil and I'm the damn snake that's trying to get you eat the apple.
I get the point. Pardon me for not consulting Kelly Blue Book, NADA, Ralph Nader, Arlen Ness, Ebay and a select few of you before making my post.
For the record, since I CAN'T generally join people on Saturday rides due to my radio obligations, THAT'S why I post where we're doin remotes. Nothing more, nothing less. It's an opp for you guys to get some free lunch and us all get to hang a bit. Not "pushing" or "hawking" anyone or anything.
Sorry brothers and sisters, but those that know me WELL know that I don't tend to hold back, I say what I feel, and I'm a touch put off.....if I've offended any of you by this, then maybe you're who I'm talking to.
In closing, I'll keep all further posts limited to .......hmm.......well........general board stuff.
Keep it on two -

Rock on Dude.
Long live capitalism!! Keep telling us about the deals you hear about, eventually one will right for me - but how will I know if no one is shouting from the roof tops. I am not in the market for an 1800, but if I was I would buy it from the dealer here. I am big on customer service (before and after sales) and have not been disappointed in the HonYam dealer yet. One of these days ask me about the experience at the HD dealership that was final contributing factor to my buying a VTX.
Anyway Dude, keep shouting, everyone is listening - some are just hard of hearing.
Oh, and please keep the general board stuff to a minimum - have you read it lately - "my pipes are too loud and can I put noise cancelling head phones in my helmet" What the H@#&!!! But kudos to Pony for his perfect reply
P.S. Just so some won't have to wear out their key boards searching for a deal on a bike, I just talked to my buddy in Illinois. They are selling 06 1300's for$5900. Plane ticket up, gas money back, maybe a night in a hotel. Save a couple bucks though.

And THEN if there's a guy in say....Canada that does it cheaper, am I stupid for promoting Pony, who's our friend because he's more expensive than the Canadian guy, but we don't RIDE with the Canadian guy but probably would since he doesnt charge as much as the guy we DO ride with that's right here doing the work at a reasonable but not rock bottom price -

I think the issue that 2wheels has with you "joining" Honda FWB is that if you look back not too long ago to your postings to include the one titled "Honda FWB version 2.0 you were posting against them in a very big way, stating that they were poor business men, how dare they come to town and do these things blah blah blah. Now that they are doing business with you they are the greatest guys around. Plugs are great but don't expect everyone to believe you had a change of heart without financial gains of some type.

Well I don't know how you haters in South west fl. work(I think I'm posting on the right board - are you?)
But, here in the North we can disagree and not hold a grudge. It's ok to dislike someone at first but we give them a chance to change and prove themselves.
Reminds me of a little story about a good looking young biker who went into a run down bar on a tiny island called Oakaloosa. It had just been taken over by new management. They had watered down booze and high prices. The bar tender acted like you were asking for his kidney when you asked for a drink. Well this young hot good looking biker got fed up and swore he would never partake in another beverage from that place.
Well A few months later he learned the new management had been trying to renovating a new building and get new staff trained and though it took a while they opened up behind the old bar in a completly new building.
Well the hot young biker dude was out riding with his old ugly not so hot and hip friends and they talked him into checking out the new bar. So he did and he was amazed by the transformation. the place was beautiful the help was polite they looked fine and the drinks were cold even though they cost abit more than most bars in the neigborhood. He knew he had found his Eden and it was worth the extra cost to go in there. The young hot biker dude knew he was wrong for holding a grudge and swore he would never again miss out on so much for being so closed minded.
If you don't already know(cause you don't live here) the bar is Sammy's. Under new management it has become the finest titty bar in the south. It just took awhile.
And Yes Yes the hot young biker dude was me. LOL
So don't hate on our brothers for trying to inform you( if you lived here) Of something they feel might benefit you. They may have nothing but good inentions.
360+ views LOL everyone likes to see a good fight.
And yes we are all now dummer for having read this, my longest and most rediculous post yet. NOW GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND GO RIDE!

Dude, I so GET that.
But as always, there are 3 sides to every story. Before I EVER put my stamp on that dealership, I took the time to sit down with Don Jones and have a conversation with the guy. Something he'll gladly do with ANY of you, by the way.
I voiced my complaints and he listened. Didn't file his nails or surf the net while I talked, but looked me in the eye and LISTENED. He then gave me his side, a basic overview for the betterment of the dealership experience as a whole.
Just because you don't like one song on a radio station you don't just can the whole thing do you? No, you just don't listen when that song is played.
You don't like their labor rates? Don't go there. I challenge you to beat their tire prices (among other things)
My point is, YES he surely knew what he was doing by getting the outspoken guy from the group as his pitchman. But know this, and if you get nothing ELSE from this post, get this.
I'm no sell-out, and don't just whore myself out to whomever will give me stuff. I have to look you guys in the eye and back up what I say in regards to the Honda dealer, so that decision didn't come easy rest assured.
If I wasn't TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY convinced that Don and his entire team had our best interest at heart I'm perfectly capable of taking my checkbook, my endorsement and to some extent my friends wherever I want.
Just last week he threw a bike night at Buffalo Wild Wings that drew over 100 BIKES! I saw Kenny, I guess that was his kid with him, and I saw BBQ Mike. Where were the rest of you?
When you stand on the box yelling, you're the easiest to throw rocks at and I get that I tend to be "the man on the box". I take that responsibility freely.
But look around bro's. Kenny bought a damn bike there, lots of us are back in there shopping again.....Candy bought his wife's scoot there.....the good far outweighs the bad guys.....it's just gonna take us some time to break these guys in to our ways.... lmao

lordofthesea should ask before spouting off at the mouth. my bike was purchased at fwb honda and until less than a year ago I did live there and some of my family still lives there. I think that I was the person who originally broke the news on the board about the price increases. My point wether I live there anymore or not was that rokjok APPEARS to have sold out based soley on the postings he has made comparing the recent past with now. I personally don't care cause to me rokjok may still dislke them but as a businessman is doing his job by selling the product but I could see where some people could have issues with is drastic change of heart.
