I'm starting to plan my vacation ride from Washington to Wisconsin then off to Indiana. According to my route planner it is 4800 miles round trip. I plan on doing this ride after I get back off our deployment. I hope the Mustang seat is comfy for the wife... LOL.... What is considered an iron butt? This is still in the planning phase, I will still have to clear vacation time for me and the wife. Plus I will be getting close to retirement around that time also.

Sounds like a fantastic ride.
There are several iron butt rides. One in like 1000k in 24 hours. It all needs to be documented and submitted into the Iron Butt association. The Mustang will be plenty comfy for you and your wife. She can get an Iron Butt certificate too as a passenger. Check their website out at www.ironbutt.com (http://www.ironbutt.com)

Hope you're going the northern route thru Glacier Natl. Park. Going to the Sun road is a great ride, then the Bitter Root Mtns., etc. Theodore Roosevelt park in ND (aka the ND Badlands)

I can't imagine doing an Iron Butt as a passenger but my experience on the pillion is less than 1 mile. I'm never getting on one of those again unless it's an emergency!!

Have a great trip!
