Hey there everybody. I'm getting ready for a trip out to Chicago (Palatine) on July 29. My father, uncle and I are heading out on the bikes to visit my cousin and to catch a Mets v. Cubs game. While we are out there I figured we could try to ride some nice roads. Anyone know of any roads in the Palatine area that are "meant" to be ridden on a bike.

Thanks for any input.

IF YOU HAVE A FEW HOURS YOU CAN TAKE RT 12 UP TO LAKE GENEVA WIS.ITS A NICE CRUZE .WHILE YOUR GOING THROUGH RICHMOND STOP IN AT DOYLES FOR A BITE AND A BEVERAGE,ITS A GREAT PLACE AND A GREAT RIDE.I'M SURE SOME OF THE OTHER GUYS ON THIS BOARD HAVE OTHER ROADS OR PLACES TO RIDE FOR THE ADVENTURE MINDED.(P.S.DONT FORGET A MAP)

Well... August 2nd is bike night up at Doyle's.....

Other than that.... most every road around Palatine is flat and straight... nothing motorcycle quality within an hours ride....

I, alomg with many others on the board, live within mere seconds of Palatine.... Feel free to drop us a line when you get in town.... We're always up for an evening jaunt!

Only roads I can think of that are close are Shoe Factory Rd starting west from Barrington & Rt 72....

And maybe Rt 31 going south from Elgin....

Like Git 'R Done said the roads are flat and straight for the most part, but there are some great backroads that you can take into Southern Wisconsin.

One of my personal favorite rides is Lake Shore Drive in the city, continue up on Sheridan Road to Bahai Temple. There is a 5 MPH hairpin turn if you keep traveling North. The view of the city's lakeshore from LSD is quite nice.

Mark is hosting a "Tech Session (Social gathering)" at his place in Barlett on the 28th. I'm sure that I speak for others when I say that it would be great to see you guys there AND at the TWT on the 31st. We don't have a location for that TWT yet.

I wish you guys a safe trip here.

madtaktix,

I grew up in Schenectady and would be happy ride with you guys while you're out here. Not much in Palatine to ride, it's kinda like riding in Niskayuna. But too far out, as mentioned by the others is some nice riding. Southern Wisconsin has some great roads more like the Lake George area (if Lake George was corn field). Route 25 south from Rt 20 on south is a nice ride especially when done on a Sunday morning.
