Does anyone have any ideas for a day trip to a destination within the tri-state area where there are things to do when you get there. I am tired of riding around Long Island and would like to spend the day with the wife on the bike.
Thank you.

Well... I mentioned in one of my other posts about a Lobster run up to Arrangansett, or something similar.
We do a ride like that about once a month at work, but I'm always up for good seafood.
We usually ride out 25A to Orient Point... take the ferry across, then ride I-95 east for a bit into RI. Then we turn off, and ride out towards some of the fishing towns.
There are a few places on the side of the road where the boats pull in, and the stands sell the lobsters. You pick your own by size/weight, and they put it in a bag for you. Then we take them right down the road to some of the small "mom & pop" outside dining resturants, and they'll cook your lobster for you.
After an hour or so there, (takes me that long to eat a 5lb lobster!), we head on back, either taking the OP ferry or the Bridgeport ferry back across.
It's kind of an expensive day when you add in the whole day off work, ferry rides, and food... but the scenery is great, nice ferry ride, good eating, good fellowship.

We would be interested to do something on a Saturday. We went to Lake Miniwaska ( by New Paltz) mountain biking and the roads and scenery are outstanding. Would make a good overnight trip I think. I did a search on Google for motorcycle rides here is one of the links I got, had some interesting ideas tripshttp://www.miatadrives.com/bottom.html Also in one of the motorcycle magazines a few months back there was a nice trip in Conn. can't find the article now, maybe Rt.7
Bear Mountain park sounds interesting also. Well we can keep kicking around idea's but Darlene and I would be interested in a ride, especially if some other women come along ;) ( she felt a little lost at Nathan's Wednesday)

I've got a bunch of articles about road trips.
Road Runner magazine is probably the best magazine for that sorta thing. They do "Shamrock Tours" each month... which is a series of "cloverleaf" tours around a central point that take a half-day to a day each.
They did one for the NY-NJ-PA tri-state area (Poconos/Port Jervis) a few months ago that I've been wanting to try... especially the Hawk's Nest run on Rte 97 north of Port Jervis.
I'll bring a few of the articles with me on Sunday morning to the OBI.

Yeah... Road Runner also did a Shamrock out of Litchfield, CT. Real nice write up in the July/Aug '03 edition. I plan to do that one too sometime.
