I just had to say something about Harley's. My girlfriend bought a new 1200 sportster custom a few weeks ago after trying to talk her out of it and insisting she take a look at the Honda's and even the Kawi's which have a nice little 900 cruiser for a great price. I honestly don't understand the mindset about owning a Harley especially after driving this thing and the price paid for it. Driving this thing on the highway is pretty weird to say the least. It's like driving a giant vibrator down the road. It rides rough and snakes around on the road where you really have to pay attention to keeping it in a straight line which I never have to do on my VTX. Riding the VTX after the Harley is like sitting back in a Barco-lounger and enjoying the ride. Not to mention how top-heavy these sportsters feel. I use to think Harley's were kinda cool until I actually drove one. I feel bad for her when we go for a ride now but this is her first bike and she really doesn't know what she is putting herself through or what she is missing out on until the time comes when she wants to ride the VTX. I just keep telling her, nice bike! Don't want to break her little heart.
Sometimes I wonder if it was all the womens clothing accessories that are available that clinched the deal. I had to tell someone.

P.S. Anyone from Minnesota have any experience with the Rune??? Any comments good or bad. I know there is a Rune owners area but I would appreciate any feedback from you guys in Minnesota. Thanks.

I saw a lady riding a black new Sportster in Watertown Saturday, was that her wearing a red shirt?

I hope that wasn't her in Watertown she's supposed to be in Washington DC until Sunday night. Her Sportster is red and silver so it was another misguided buyer.

The Harley thing is a case of nostalgia being better than it really was.

Harley's always had a mystic, Hells Angles, Electra Glide In Blue, ...

But they weren't the only bikes ... and not the best bikes....
A Norton Commando commanded as much respect as a any Harley ever did.
But today if you asked your typical biker couldn't even name a British bike manufacturer,
but they're certain their yah yah is the best bike made. Hell, they paid an extra $10K for it!

The Heritage or Road King is a Harley for the road.
The Sportster is the worst thing for a ten mile round trip to the store.
It's an altered flat tracker.
There was no logic in that choice. Oh Yeah, the pounding sensation at will in the garage. Poor washing machine kept correcting the out of balance mode.
