FYI...Of what I have recently heard NYS will start doing dyno emission inspection testing on all motorcycles starting in 2006 in addition to the safety inspection.

Yes if it is true and my source is correct...I would hold onto the stock exhaust and if you did the desmogging hold onto the pair valve/hoses etc. I guess we will know for sure as the 2006 deadline get closer.

I haven't done anything except drill a 3/4 in. hole in each muffler to get a littlt more sound. I don't know how they can expect a pre inspection ( 06)
bike to pass an emmission test when there wasn't a spec. to build to.

I spoke to my Honda mechanic the other day. He said that he did not feel that there is any way to plug into a bike, and check efficiency/smog control devices. I don't know if that's accurate, or not.

Oh that will decrease the smog (intense sarcasm intended). How about emission testing all the trucks caught spewing particulates into the air?

Just plain stupid IMO. Especially when you can only ride about 6 months a year in most of the state.

One of the fellows in my local club is a DMV inspector, I asked him about this.

His reply "The state see motorcycle emissions as such a small issue there is no plans to inforce anything"

Thanks

There is not anyplace to plug into. What they can do is put an emissions analyzer in the exhaust, but modifications (pipes, fuel management, etc)
will not do much to this and almost certainly not cause you to fail inspection.
What I would suspect is that they may be on the lookout for aftermarket pipes or visible emission modifications. Just my .02 cents.
