It's almost time to replace the battery, so I'm wondering if there is local shop to buy from or go online.
Please let me hear what you got to say.
Thank you.
Jamal.

I just buy mine from the Honda dealer. IMO I wouldn't use anything but a stock replacement Yuasa. If the dealer down there says not available order from HDL, or another dealer. I think this is about what I pay local also  http://www.hondadirectlineusa.com/store ... =458927515 (http://www.hondadirectlineusa.com/stores/product.asp?pid=1620&str=1&ID=458927515)

Sort of off topic, but Jon is there any reason why a Battery Tender should not be used on our VTXs? I used one on my Sabre for the 3+ years I owned it and it worked great. But then the Shadows don't have a ground problem that I'm aware of.

It's sort of on topic if you consider the fact that a Battery Tender can extend the life of your battery ;)

Nope they are safe. I do recomend not covering the bike. I also recomend not leaving the tender on for long periods of time. I hook it up for a few days and disconnect for a week or 2 and repeat.

Thanks Jon. Given that these batts are under the seat, will there be sufficient ventilation during charging without removing the seat? I wouldn't think there would be a problem but your recommendation not to cover the bike got me to thinking. Right now I've got the pigtail tucked in behind the left sidecover. My plan was to just bring it out from behind the cover during the winter, just as I did on my Sabre, but that battery was also behind the left sidecover, so ventilation was more open.

These are sealed and don't vent. The don't cover is just a precaution. It also prevents moisture from being trapped underneath which leads to rusting of chrome

I've purchased a fair # of batteries from Pacific Power Battery i Everett. Know some of them have been Yuasas but not sure of exact specs. They have some real high end batteries too. Would at least give them a check out since you don't need it 'right this minute' :D Just google 'em

Why don't you strap a car battery to the back seat and call yourself a SPARKSIDER

Oh I still have that wax sitting on my desk waiting for you to pick it up.

Thought the thread was about batteries? Not your drivel.

Anyway stay with a sealed battery and I still suggest Pacific power Batteries as a place to start.

Then you could block everyone who disagree's with you starting with Honda,Tapper,Bare Spike HDL,all the tire manf and m/c manf and anyone who has followed a darksider and watched that tire go up on its edge.
I wouldn't block you I just wish you and the no helmet people wouldn't promote dangerous stuff.I do support your right to do it I just think your very unrealistic in your thinking.
