Looking for a nice place to get away

Need some recommendations on where to take the wife for a little get away.

Here are the musts:

be within 2 hours of the cities
Not Duluth (been there too many times)
Must have a night life we can walk to
Decent place to stay doesn't have to be super fancy just not a dump
NO B&B's!

My wife and I enjoy casinos. Once you get there, there is plenty to do all night. :) There is a decent one in Tower, Minnesota. Dubuque was fun too. Otherwise if you are more into historic type stuff (and willing to drive a little over your 2 hours), Galena, IL is pretty cool

You could try the Hayward, WI, or Chetek, WI areas(Chetek is 45 mins north of Eau Claire, WI. Bayfield, WI area? You could ferry out to the Apostle Islands and/or stay on the Island if you wished. Bayfield has some nice downtown shops. Same with Chetek. Good places to eat and drink in Hayward and Chetek.

Rochester comes to mind...

and the casino get away seems like a good one too!

Isle of Capri casino in Waterloo IA was amazing also. The rooms were killer. They even had that new car smell to them. It is a brand new casino. I won $350 with in 20 minutes of getting there.

Hey Tarzan, what happens when you spend all that money for the room and she claims a headache has set in :shock: I would go with something more creative like the things mentioned above :wink:

Easy to fix - just hand her a bottle of Tylenol as soon as you walk in the room. She'll be suprised and say "Why do I need this? I don't have a headache." Then you say "GOTCHA!" :D
