View Full Version : Two day ride

I have liberty on July 8-9. Any of you want to take an overnight ride? I'm thinking somewhere Virginia, Southerm Maryland near water. I'm up for anywhere actually. I know it's during the week but that's the only days I have.

I would love to join you but that is a family vacation week. I don't get enough time with the kids and as much as I love to ride the X I enjoy time with my girls even more.

Chef...I agree!!! those girls will grow-up real quick. got to spend as much time as you can with them.

I have a business meeting that I can't get out of. I'm planning on taking Mondays off starting next week, so if an overnighter on Sunday night comes up, let me know.

Hey RagMan - I can always sneak you in my truck bed (we're trailering the bikes out - too much of ride for my new riding daughter)!

Wish we could get a group of us together for a ride - maybe next year!!!

I'm in for the CO trip next year. Yeh right Ragman...like you are going to take a weeks vacation without the family. John...John...wake-up...it's time for work.

Just some thoughts...

We can continue to plan the two day trip South on the 8th and 9th or we can plan a two day trip North starting on the 9th (stay over) and come back and meet the group at Trappe on the 10th. My thoughts are that you would not need to take two days vacation (just one) and we can still meet-up with the others in Trappe.

Your thoughts??

It's OK with me, either way. I would only be using 1 vacation day with the south trip, as well. I work 12 hour days, but only 15 days a month. I think the southern trip sounds better, unless you think of a good spot up north. I'm like you, I just want to ride. My one buddy is thinking of going with us.

South it is.

What do you think about Solomons Island. It is about 170 miles from Springfield PA. We can stop in Annapolis for a few hours on the way. Maybe take 301 down to 50. There is a Holiday Inn on Solomons that is Okay with a nice little watering hole right next to it. :)

The best way I know is to go South on 896 to RT 301. RT 301 is a long stright road. It will take you to RT 50 which cuts West toward Annapolis. From the Annopolis area, I think its rt 2 South to RT 4 to Solomons. The only trafficky area would be around the Annololis area I think. I will look further into it when I get back or during my trip if I can get web access. I will have my laptop with me. I'm leaving for CA tomorrow and will not be back until the night of the 26th.

Still have not checked the rates at the Holiday Inn but I will soon. Got some good advise on where to eat when at Solomons. There is a place on Broomes Island called Stoneys (sic). It's about 20 miles from Solomons but I heard that they have great crab cakes. You can sit out by the water to eat. Thought that would be good to do after we check in at the Hotel. It requires some back tracking so we could even stop there on the way down before checking in. I'll get back to you on the rates. :)

Sounds great! My one buddy is definitely coming. He's from Kennett, so he's not too far from you. Waiting to hear from the other two. I think we would like to stay someplace clean and cheap. Let me know about where and when to meet up.

It looks like the rate is about $109.00. Depending on how many goes, we can get one or two rooms with two double beds or we can get one room and sleep up to five people. Of course some will need to sleep on the floor. If that is too much let me know and I will find a cheaper hotel that is not so nice. There are a lot of them down there.
