#1 is the Metzler Tire I went with after my FAILED attempt to go to the Darkside.
Well at least I managed to seal the rim with polysulfide, so no more tube

Great Plains just happened to have a WW Metzler Tire in stock. Running only Dunlops for 47K, I thought that they were as good as it gets. But running the new Bias Metzler w/o a tube made a big difference solo and a huge difference two up. It suppose to last longer, is sticker, and handles bumps much better, heck the wife even swears to that !!

#2 Is Quaker Steak & Lube in Counsel Bluffs worth checking out, we went there last Saturday a cool place. Any one know if bike night is still going on?

They have the “Lube Tube,” 110 ounces of beer. Hmm… one oz for every cubic inch in my 1800.

Didn't like the darkside? I know the rear of the 1800's is a lot wider so it my be that much more flat space, the one I got on my 1300 tracks a lil different than the MC, but after a few days I don't even notice it. Been meaning to check out Quaker Steak, looks like a nice spot for some Brats and Beers

Correct me if I'm wrong

That’s my tire above, looks cool in the pic 8) , but I could not get the bead to seat on either side. In short I think there is a difference between motorcycle bias rims and Radial tires, I’m no tire expert. :?

This is what I tried:
I did seal the rim myself, using the same stuff as Wheel Works in Calf.
(Polysufide) there is enough info on the web to do it sucesfully. The rim tonight had 120 PSI trying to get the bead to seat, and no leaks out the rim spoke holes.

Man I thought this would work, the MC mech took it to 100 PSI and was afraid to go any higher. Next took it to a Truck tire place; they had a tire cage and they said that it would not go on. Talk to a friend he said that I should spray the lip with silicon spray pressure it at least 100 PSI and wack the side wall with a 3 LB hammer, so DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
I silicon sprayed the lip with silicon, pressure it at least 120 PSI and Beat the side wall with a 20 LB sledge hammer. It was insaine!@#$$

Push the tire off the beads and apply some really soapy water with a rag on the tire beads, should blow right on there now. I had the same problem but after the soapy water trick, she went right on.

Sound like a good Idea... So I put the soapy water on the tire bead, preasured to 35 PSI, took my normal hammer and wacked arround the side wall... It ... didn't.... wwork. ,pressure it at least 120 PSI and Beat the side wall with a 20 LB sledge hammer.

Hmmm....[/quote:jnwuonic]
I’m sure that I’d like the car tire but I’ll wait till someone else has don it without extreme measures.

Hey Chris, where is Quaker Steak and Lube located in Council Bluffs? Have heard alot about it and would like to go there the next time we are in Omaha to see our daughters.
I have put almost 3000 miles on since I went to the Darkside. I really love the ct and see no reason to ever go back. Didn't take very long at all to get used to it.

I know when I put mine on we had to crank the regulator up to 120psi. Never hit the side walls we hit the tread in order to crate a spring like effect on the sides. Doing it was Hairy as F* but we managed to get it to pop on. Shoulda seen all three of us jump when that thing snapped into position. you may want to also try heating up the sidewalls with a heat gun or very carefully with a propane torch. Make the rubber softer and more plyable to stretch it on.
