JPfeiffer,

Where are you located? Near Harrisburg?

BTW...we're sorry that you missed the VTX get together last weekend. We are planning another one in Trappe on July 10th.

i'm gonna try and drag my ass out to the next SE Pa gathering. The only reason I hesitate is because I just bought this bike a month ago after 10+ years without a bike and my skills are lacking. A friend with a 1200 sportster and I road a little yesterday and I could barely keep up simply because he's a better rider (certainly not because of his puny bike ; ).

Red X,

I went 15 years without owning a bike, before buying my VTX. My previous bike had been a 750. Just make sure that you get alot of seat time in. Don't try to "keep up" with anyone else. Travel and learn at your own pace. Try and get alot of low speed riding, and starting and stopping practice in. Anyone can ride a bike well on a straight highway. I practiced alot in residential developements, that had 25 mph speed limits, alot of curves, stop signs, and distractions. Sign up for a MSF course. I've had a motorcycle license for 30 years, and had never taken the course. When I started riding again, I decided to take the course to "brush up". It was the best thing I did. I got alot more out of it than I had expected. Even now, I still travel at my own pace.

Good luck. I will ride with you anytime. Let me know.

yes good advice. That's exactly what I'm doing now. Just taking it easy while out and about in delco/chesco. Don't try to keep up with anyone but at the same time don't want to slow anyone down. I intend on taking the mrsc this fall as well.

thanks for the help
