took a train up towards Green Bay last night!

Freight, not commuter. Man, i cant belive how close some homes and business are to the track thru Waukesha, Oshkosh, Appleton, to name a few. I wonder how anyone can get any sleep at 2 am with the bells and train whistle!!! Sorry, but its the laws and rules that make us make all that racket, even if no one is around. Squeezing a wide load train (all windmills) thru that Oshkosh bridge was interesting to say the least!

I used to live near the tracks, after a while you don't notice the horns at night. Madison had a ban on train whistles for a while because people complained about them. Interesting that the tracks were there before the houses.

It's like the folks who build in the country and then complain about farm odors or the farmer harvesting crops at midnight. Remember, no farmers, no food! IMO there ought to be a moratorium on building single family homes on tillable agricultural land.
