Someone else put this link up on another X forum. I want to try it for sure. I dont have the drill press though but it looks like a good excuse to get one. It sure looks easier then doing the whole thing by hand.

I had a guy out in Maple Valley polish my 1800 C rear wheel. I sanded out the machine marks and then he worked his magic. Total invested was four blisters on my right hand and 150.00 bucks. The wheel looks amazing. You'll have to sand against the machine marks to remove the turning marks. Each grade of paper, you sand in the opposite direction.

If you have small hands and alot of free time, polishing is a easy chore.

I learned after about an hour that sanding and polishing is not my cup of tea. Maybe the cast 1300 wheel is easier than the 1800 wheel, but the side where the disc brake rotor mounts is a real bear.

In this video he said the hole thing took around 3 hours. For me Id double that.

But I just though it was a ingenious to use the drill press like that. Im sure it saves alot of time. I saw someone in the comments use the word ingenious, Id like to use another but to me that is a perfect description.

But as to what you are saying, I think you are saying that after spin sanding with the drill press that I would still need to go back to get the machine marks? Is that different then his valkyre? Im hoping I can do it in a day for each wheel.

That's pretty cool, Ethan! Sure beats my idea of putting the bike on the stand, dropping it in 2nd & staying on the throttle. I told dockboss & Sgt MacGyver about my idea & they said if I did it that way they would have to nickname me "3-fingered Dave".

My bro has a drill press if you want to save some $$$. 8)

My polishing guy told me that he used brand new 11" diameter polishing wheels to reach down into the recessed areas of the VTX wheel.

A Valkerie wheel is much shallower.

You may rig up something to work, similar to the video.

Good luck!

Ill likely not do it for a while so its all good for now. But later down the road it seems like a cool way to do it. I cant see how polishing could be something Id enjoy though. It looks mighty tiresome.
