Thinking about moving from NE Arkansas to the Winfield area this spring.
Anyone here from that area?

I made a move to Kansas myself march of 06 from Galveston Tx. Miss riding year round like we did down on the Gulf coast, but the part of Kansas I live in offers some fairly good scenery on GOOD roads as well. Just no icehouses to stop and have a cold one! Anyhow....Kansas welcomes you.....we need your tax dollars.

What little family I have left is in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Arizona. Kansas puts me alot closer, maybe I can start seeing them more than once a year.
I have a stepdaughter in Kansas with a baby and a second on the way. My wife wants to be close to the grandkids and theres nothing keeping us here.

The eastern part of the state has some good riding, I just wish Kansas had more Curves.

Torquelover,
I could show you some great places to ride in Central Kansas within 60 miles of McPherson. One fun ride is the Meatpacker road from McPherson to Marquette. There are several other county roads that will test your ability to corner too.
I have every other weekend off and I'd be happy to lead a few BB members on a tour of some of our less known backroads. I never get bored on a ride. :D

The wife gave notice at work today. She is planning on being in Winfield around the middle of March, in time to see the arrival of a new grandbaby.
As soon as she finds a job Im going to put the house up for sale and motor that way myself.
Then, let me be the first to congratulate you - er, or to pity you...
:D
I think you'll like it around here. Obviously, no twisties and mountain ranges to interupt your view. But, there's plenty of road adventures in Kansas if you disregard the skeptics. Some old stuff - some new. I like the area around Winfield though I usually steer clear of Doodah (Wichita). I know you don't wanna take the big bike off the beaten path west of Doodah - them's roads of sand!
I think there used to be a couple of folks on this forum from around there: Big Meyer (lost his X along with the ex) was one...
Anyway, welcome! And hope your move goes smoothly!

Started weeding out the stuff. No way the current inventory is going in a 24ft U-Haul truck. Its tough to let things go, but Ive got car parts that Ive had for years and I dont guess I will ever use them so they have to go.
I bought a 10psi Procharger for the Mustang and never got around to installing it. I caught Valley Fever and was in the hospital for 2 weeks, then had a death in the family, then started a new job, then had another death in the family, then lost interest. So it has to go. I just sold an entire Fox body suspension, rear end, 3 sets of rims, and a dash panel with Rusty Wallace and Mark Martins autographs. I sold my oem Mustang bumpers yesterday. I have a complete set of seat covers and foams for a 05+ Mustang that are going. My last Mustang part that Im keeping is a NOS 140mph speedo for a 86, Ive had a Mustang or two for over 30 years, I guess Im getting a little tired of them.
The 750 Shadow is going, I have a friend that wants it.
The 3 rollaways are going into 2.
1 of the 3 cars are going.
Our old house was huge and we have huge furniture, Im hopeing to get rid of some of it.
You never know how much stuff you have until you start digging it out to move.
This is going to be a nightmare.

We had the pleasure of weeding out our stuff a few years back. Promised myself that I wouldn't get that way again. The problem is that every time I go and sell something I end up needing it later and have to get another one.

I ride the Falun road as often as I get in that area. We were riding it last year in the spring when there was still a lot of sand on the curves and I got the pucker factor up to overload. The back end broke loose, but I got it around ok. My cousin who was riding behind me noticed it as it happened and told me he saw me grinning pretty big in my mirror after I got it straightened out, It is a fun road, but not pretty when the feedlot heats up.
