Hey everybody -

I'm sure this question has come up before but...

Is it possible to mount the Ultimate X Bigboy seat with the original rear seat? The reason I ask - I usually ride solo, so the passenger seat is of no great concern for me. I do, however, have throw over saddle bags that the rear seat helps to keep in place. A solo Bigboy seat is much cheaper than the two-up configuration.

Thanks for your help in advance...

Unfortunately, that won't work. You'll need the Ultimate passenger seat if you've go the Ultimate drivers seat. Different mounting mechanism.

EDIT: but it seems that it may be easy to fab something up

Actually it WILL work......but you have to modify the pellion seat. That is what I did to mine. Now if you don't want to modify you stock seat then the answer is no. Modification is easy to do.

Mark, why dno't you post up pics so that we can check it out. The guys at Ultimate are pretty clear that there are problems with doing that, but maybe you've found a trick that we should know about???

Well a couple of years ago I found a post on the VTXOA board who modified his seat. He said it was NBD so I figured I had nothing to loose and I'd try mine. BTW I did a search and aside from the fact that I suck at searching... I didn't find the post.

Basically I did this:
Pull stock seat(s) and install the Ultimate Driver seat. Now take the stock pellion and eye-ball to see approx. how much of the seat needs to be removed. Next make a template using the stock pellion as a guide and start cutting the template until it's close to fitting up against the Ultimate. We're talking about the front of the seat only. Now take the stock pellion flip it over and remove the staples from the front only removing only as many as needed. now peal back the cover exposing the yellow foam.
Take the template place it on the pellion mark your cut line and cut leaving the foam. Cut and shape the foam with either a foam cutting hot knife or I used a torch to heat a old knife to cut the foam. When your close to final cuts leave extra because it does compress. Razor knifes didn't work for me. When your done or rather satisfied with the cuts pull the cover back over and before you cut anything practice tucking and folding the cover into place. I fastened the cover with pop rivets w/ a washer. I didn't have any luck with staples.

As for pics  mines up in the attic of the garage. I've ridden solo for almost two years, and put it away. If your serious about doing this I don't mind helping or if you reeeeeally need pics I'll look for it.

It depends on the model of bike, the C is a straight bolt-on.
