The Mardon catered BBQ needs menu input if y'all can speak up.
Question # 1
Protein? Ribs, chicken, dogs, burgers ect.
Question # 2
Sides. Coleslaw, salad, pasta salad, beans ect.
Question # 3
What else? Caviar, Dungeness Crab, Lobster Bisque?
Question # 3
Seriously, I was asked this question.....do you want to be served?
It's a forgone fact we want white table cloths and linen napkins.
Ok, # 3 is actually if some of us ( of course I would ) are willing to do setup, as they have a prior catering commitment. Tasks to be determined if this longshot at least hits a show ticket.
One and all chime in with your preferences......I very much can use your input...this is your party!

ribs, baked beans, potato salad would work for me. Large man sized portions. There's been some talk of not doing something like this so we need to see how many are really interested in having the food catered. I vote do it. If we get enough beans we can save on firewood and just use gas.

Same as Eagle sounds good to me. Would be nice if they can have the food on a table for us and all we have to do is dish it up and watch Rick eat. looking forward to it, Bob

I also vote do it. I think we should have two meats (Ribs & Chicken) for the people who don't like pork. Other wise copy Eagle & Izzy input.
Looking forward to a great weekend.

This is going to be my first Mardon so I don't know how much beer is consumed. Would a keg of beer be in order?
"It's a forgone fact we want white table cloths and linen napkins. " Great idea!! Should we dress for dinner, or just skivies?

I think it would be great if chicken was available, for those of us not so fond of ribs

Yeah, a keg could work. I doubt the skivies will....
The restaurant has limited resources for serving, along with another commitment for catering that same evening. It seems we picked the same weekend of a large family reunion....
I'm thinking if we keep it simple...ribs, chicken, potato salad, maybe beens...
Keep the suggestions coming!

I dont know if a Keg would work. While we have a good size group not sure we would agree on what should be in the keg. Plus it is something else someone needs to handle. Arrange, pickup, ice, return. My foldable cooler works fine for me. I can add what I want. The store is right there and well stocked. I vote not interested in a Keg. If a caterer can be arranged for a resonable fee that is ok. I dont care on what the make anything is ok with me. I know I am hard to get along with.
Does Sherly drink BEER?
Thanks

A keg is a good idea for reducing cost but carrying it around and packing it in ice and returning it, will be difficult on a motorcycle.
I will be bringing a truck so if someone has a plan to provide a keg at least we can get it there and back.
Also, I prefer Coors Lite and most won't. That means I will have to bring my own. This will also apply to others beer tastes.
On the other hand I know an Oregon rider that sucks up any kind of beer. So at least one beer drinker will be happy.

If there is enough interest in a keg......I ride bicycles with a guy who is the beer distributer for ML and surrounding areas. He stocks Mar-don stores as well. Maybe I can work something out with him or I can pick up and take back the keg as I live very close.. They also have a steakhouse and bar at Potholes golf course, maybe rent one from them, lot closer and easier to arrange pickup and drop off.

Chicken, Ribs, Bean, Salads all sound good for both Sue and I and the other 2 that will be coming. I'll skip the keg though. I'm a beer snob.

Ribs, chicken and burgers. Since my wife will be there, I guess we have to throw in some sides - Keg, ok, potato salad & beans.
Did I mention Keg? Soda and water.

Question # 3
What else? Caviar, Dungeness Crab, Lobster Bisque?
Sounds good to me!
I'm not going, but heck that doesn't mean I don't get a vote does it?
"IF" I WAS going, I'd vote for a mix of meats, probably Chicken & Ribs, potato salad, and probably beans. It would all wash down really well with a cold beer.
Yah know, this Mardon thing is starting to sound fun.. Are there still any tickets & camping spots available?
ugh.. that would mean buying a small tent, and a sleeping bag, and ... what else? I haven't tried camping since I was a teen-ager.

Bob you have my vote for whatever is on the table and edible and I have no problem with the catering part I will throw whatever money is needed and will throw x-tra $$ if needed lets just get this together for a good time. This is a good time and I have never been picky when it comes to grub........and I will have my own drinks since I haven't drank in 23 years

I use safeway and albertson deli when traveling its cheap and a good selection. They sell large party kits that would work for this event. Moses Lake is like 17 miles a half hour trip. Money is tight for some lets make it as easy as possible on them. Jim

Bob - the missus BigD & I would be happy with either the ribs or chicken & any of the sides would be fine. Please put us down for (2) if the catered BBQ is a go. 8) Let me know if you need a pre-pay on this & I can get you a check, money order or Paypal.

[quote="eagle1953"]This is going to be my first Mardon so I don't know how much beer is consumed. Would a keg of beer be in order?]
I like the way you think, and I hope you enjoy your keg... but would there be room for every body's keg? That's Texas talk for: there's a lot of beer downed at Mardon!
So, okay, NOT as humorous as I had hoped, but I will try to be serious: A keg is a good idea except that keg determines everyone's beer style. Bet we have considerable diversity in tastes. [[I, for one, cannot drink microbrew. Colleen needs wine and diamond needs Kool Aid. Sorry Walt, just kidding.]]
Besides... who's gonna put a keg on the back of their bike and survive even 10'?
But if there is a consensus on type, it'd be a great idea. Those wimps among us could slink up to the Mardon Store, pay a premium price and be happy campers.
[[And, tell the truth, Walt, I'd be pleased to have some Coors Light with you. Really. But Ultra's better!]]
Jim
alright since i was bitchin over on the other thread. ribs, chicken, beens so its not just snoring we hear, and some salad sounds good. ifn they have something else booked we can all walk up to the kitchen back door and take delivery of it back down to our site. but still what is it gonna cost us all?

:D I vote for the catering and also for chicken and ribs. The potatoe salad and baked beans work too!!! I would suggest or ask if chips and maybe a fruit salad were feasable? Fresh rolls could be nice too? All served buffet style, in our area on a table set up for us, maybe? Beverages can be BYOB, IMO... Look forward to another big turnout and a poker run!!! Thanks Bob, for staying ontop of this. 8) Ed&Leslie 8)

WELLVTX... Mardon is a place.. Mardon Resort at Potholes near Moses Lake area. Once a year we gather with the other VTX Riders of Washington or what ever kind of Scooter you might Ride. We get there on Friday Saturday we have an all day scoot (about 300 miles) then we get back and have a BBQ feast A good time lots of Laughs, telling lies we might drink just a little and Sunday we leave. I hope that helps And Hope to see ya there..!!
Anyways ...Chicken, Ribs ,Beans, All sounds great to me..Keeping it simple might work best..
THANKS ROD-O

If everyone can agree on a flavor and someone can tell me where to buy it. I might be able to haul a keg over in my fancy new truck. I have to haul the trailer over for the wife and kids anyway. Besides, if I pack it right, it can keep my bike company in the back of the truck.

Firstly, I apologize for posting infrequently, but have had a nightmare of a time getting a computer that actually computes. Should be recieving a replacement later this week for the one that has spent since last October traveling between me and the Gateway Repair Center. What's the rush, it's only taken almost 4 month.
Bumping this back to the top to give a y'all that haven't chimed in a chance for input.
Rowland, the catered BBQ is far from cast in stone. We're still in the pre-plan stage. Once I feel like I have a consensus on the menu, I'll get a quote and we'll go from there.
BUMP!

Any way you look at it, we're in. I'm not about to let $10-$20 have an impact on such a cool event. SOme people say "it's all about the ride". Others say it's all about the people and friends. Well, maybe both are right. I don't care if we roast weenies over an open fire and eat beans out of a can with plastic spoons. This is going to be a great event and we're looking forward to sharing it will all of you. We weren't around for the event last year, but we made the Winthrop ride. I'm guessing that this Mardon ride will be way bigger than last year's Winthrop ride - and I'm hoping like hell that this year's Winthrop ride will be even better than Mardon. So..........with that said...........let's eat, drink, ride & be merry.
Here's a thought" what if you could only eat what you shoot or catch fishing? hehe - funny thought, huh?

I appreciate the 19 of 51 that actually adressed the question. Since in the past couple of years the total has been knocking on the door of 40 attending, and added to that some of the responders were couples, I'm calling this a majority.
Keri at Mardon will have a quote per person for me sometime next week.
Once we have that, we need a consensus and book it. Not a lot of wiggle room on this program.
