Below is a notice I received from the Idaho PGR

Members of the Southwest District of the Idaho Patriot Guard -

I was notified last evening of the passing of Mr Ron Shepard, USAF Veteran, Director (and founder) of the Idaho STAR Program, and fellow PGR member.

Details of the funeral service information can be found below, but the funeral is Monday (25 Feb) at 1030 at the Vineyard Boise Church, with interrment to follow at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery.

This mission will be a bit different from the norm in that we (PGR) have been invited/will be attending as part of a larger formation of motorcyclists.

As the news stories below indicate, Ron was the catalyst in bringing the STAR program to Idaho and has worked tirelessly for the past 12 years as it's director. And he was one of our own, having joind the PGR in early March of 2006.

Realizing the short notice, please do what you can to join the other groups of motorcyclists in honoring the memory of this Air Force Veteran, STAR founder, PGR member, husband, father and grandfather.

STAGING INFORMATION:
Staging will be at 0945 on Monday, 25 Feb. Location will be at the far east parking lot.

From the STAR info: Sad news: a giant has passed away

Ron Shepard, Director of the Idaho STAR Motorcycle Safety Program, passed away last night. from a massive heart attack. . He was the first person in the rider education community to insist that there was trouble in training caused by changes at M$F.

I'm taking the following from the official announcement from the STAR program because I just can't write about Ron right now. He was a very dear friend to me:

Ron built the Idaho STAR Program from the ground up and has led the program successfully for 12 years. His 35 years in motorcycle safety includes work for the Air Force, for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, as Chair of the SMSA, and as Director of the STAR Program. His service has made a real difference in thousands of lives across the country and around the world. His work, his accomplishments, and his legacy will not be forgotten.

In Ron's passing, we have lost a coach, a leader, and most of all a friend. It is a dark day here at STAR - he will be missed greatly. Please send you thoughts and prayers out to his family.

Beth has asked that no flowers be sent. However, if you wish to make a contribution, please donate to the STAR program, Ron's lasting legacy in Idaho.

Cards (and contributions) can be sent to:
