So far it looks like we have-

BigJohn
PeterX
Caps
Gen Xer
El Broacho

Peter and I were talking about leaving Friday late morning. Maybe 11:00 am. We will pick a spot to meet soon. We thought we could take our time heading over and try to find some decent backroads to Sioux Falls.

Here's the South Dakota post on it:

Here are details from banik of the Dakotas Board:

"Alright, here are the plans for the meet & Greet:

We will be staying at Newton Hills State Park. The date will be set for JUNE 7th 2008! I will give you 2 links, the 1ST link will be the main site with the phone number you need to call and make your camping reservation, the 2ND is a map of the park grounds......on this map, look for the area that Cabins 1,2,3, and 4 are in, everyone who is planning on tenting it should reserve tent sites as close to those 4 cabins as possible (to avoid mixing others sites with ours) have your map either printed out, or your computer on while making reservations.....if the site you choose is taken, you will be able to ask for another and so on, until you find one that is available.... A bunch of us from around here will be staying both Friday(6th) and Sat.(7th) If you would like to join us, shoot me a PM and I will give you my # so we can make further plans.

We are not able to make reservations until ***MARCH 9TH***(open 7 days a week) they only allow you to make reservations 90 days in advance. Their office opens at 7AM Central time....I would suggest that you call as early as possible to get the site you want.

We will meet at Newton Hills Cabin #4 on Sat at 12PM, make the ride out to the park and get set up. Once everyone is settled in, we will go for a cruise on all the awesome back Hwys around that area, and possibly stop off in Bersford for lunch. After that....we'll continue our journey to ???? I know it's a bit unconventional to not have a maped out ride, but what the Hell, we'll have just as much fun making it up as we go right!! :D

So there you go.....If I'm missing any details, or you need further info, shoot me a PM.

Peace,

~Jason

I have a campsite reserved right by the cabin where Banik07 (Jason) is staying. They allow up to 6 people per campsite so I have some extra room if anyone wants to stay there. However, I only have a small 2 person tent, so if anyone wants to share the campsite they should bring their own. Here's hoping for decent weather! :D

Ok I decided to get a motel and if el broacho comes we'll share it. If not someone else can split with me.

Peter is camping. John & Ryan what are you guys going to do for sleeping? I need to reserve a room quick but wanted to see what you guys thought about doing.

Hotel for me as well. Have you picked one specifically yet?

John & Ryan - if you guys bring tents you're more than welcome to crash at my campsite. We can make a fire, drink whiskey and laugh at the ladies staying in the hotel :beer2:

Funny ... and nice touch with the pink text :D

I have no problem camping, its just that I'm not 100% ready to carry the extra gear quite yet. In a few weeks I will be.

Ryan I'll go ahead and reserve a couple really cheap rooms if thats ok.

That would be great Caps, thanks.

And thanks for the offer Peter...I think we got a tent as wedding gift...(does that give you an idea of my camping experience?)

Oh and Caps, please make sure a murder or something happened in my room...just to really 'man' it up.

I got a better idea. I'll put the extra gas container next to your bed that we will have to lug around for Peter

Wish I could go guys, a trip over to SD would be just what the doctor ordered...
Unfortunately for me I'm on a plane to friggin' New Jersey on the 2nd and don't get home until the 13th. Hope you guys have a great trip!

Ok here's a plan. We meet at the Burnsville Hooters at 11am. I know its back tracking for some of us but it will be better for Peter so he doesn't have to deal with 94 or 494 through the cities. He can shoot down 35E.

If anyone has any roads they want to try lets do it. I'll look at a map and pick some scenic stuff too.

I told banik (Jason) from SD we would meet them at the campground Friday around 6pm for a BBQ.

I tried to get a motel at some of the local towns but they are all booked. So the motel sleepers will have to head 30 minutes into Sioux Falls. I'll set that up.

Somebody wake up John and see if he's camping or motel.

Let me know if anyone has other ideas on this too.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Dudes~

Unfortunately I have to bail on this trip.

A while back a friend bought tickets for us and the wives to see a band that I dig a lot (Built to Spill (http://www.builttospill.com)) playing at the Cabooze (http://www.cabooze.com) that weekend. For some reason I had it in my head the show was Sunday the 8th. Unfortunately it is Saturday the 7th. This was a very tough decision for me but an opportunity to see this band, at this small a venue, outside is too hard to pass up.

I wish you guys a fun safe journey.

Well, we probably have one or two months left of riding before snow again. We'll catch you on the next one

Sorry, I'm out too. Those "plans" that I scheduled for the weekend of June 6th, just got solidified, (the reason I took off that weekend from work). But I'll be at the Rally and rooming with PeterX. Thanks CAPS.

John

Doh! Sorry to hear that John :( In order to get over this sad feeling, I think I'll just stare at your avatar for a few minutes. I hope you don't mind.

However, if Ryan and John aren't able to go, that does mean that there will be more beer for the rest of us :beer3:
