Went out last year on a day trip and fell in love with the roads and the gathering itself. Planning to spend some time out there this year, leaving here on May 31st, Saturday, spending a few days in the Lake George area and plan on returning on June 4th, Wednesday. Coming home, doing laundry, repacking, headed back home to Canada for my daughter's wedding that weekend. Anyway if anyone is interested in riding out to Lake George on the 31st, hooking up during the first part of the week, or riding back on the 4th, let me know. Its a beautiful ride for those who haven't been there yet, the gathering makes Laconia look like a dollar store sale.

Let us all know if you find a place to stay. I looked earlier this year in the surrounding area and could not find anything. I think if it does not rain it will be a day trip for me for my first time to Americade.

Try the 1000 acres resort. It is in Stoney Creek about 10-15 miles outside Lake George. I think it is still off season for them that time of year and it is a pretty nice place. Not sure about the rates its been years since i have been there to stay

For my first time going I think day trip may be in order. I am already going to spend a bunch of money in July when I loop Nova Scotia for a week. I will keep you posted FiremanJeff of my plans.
FYI - my brother moved to Dover and about every two weeks I go see him. Since I cruise down 11 to get there we should hook up sometime for a ride when it gets warmer. Your still in Farmington right?

Roger, good to hear from you again, thought Mass, must have devoured you. Not too worried about a place to say, big area nat we are not too particular, when it comes to the area. Lets hope the weather will co-operate for a few days for us.

Oakala, we went to Nova Scotia last August for a week and it was well worth the ride. Went to Portland and took the ferry to Yarmouth, saves time but was rough with a lot of sick people aboard, six hours is a long time with no relief. Went up the eastern side of Nova Scotia and on to Cape Breton, check it out if you have the time, wonderful scenery, lots of pictures. Dress warm it was chilly at times even in the middle of summer, Marintime Canada eeh, you'll come back with a funny accent and a fondness for colourful money, par I think now, have fun and enjoy the province. Being from the area we go back on the bike every labour day weekend, miss the ocean.

Last year we went out without reservations and looked around for a place to stay, finally found an awesome new hotel that would rent for only one night on the saturday or friday night of the event, cant remember which one, I'll find out what the name of it was, was reasonable and every other place needed a minimum of 3 nights even though it was almost over. They had clean quiet rooms, vending machines, indoor pool, hot tub, etc. etc.
It's is a great time, usually hotter than hell, although it was cold 2 years ago, but tons of stuff for your bike, bring a bundle, it's easy to spend!

Thanks for the info Magdar. The route we have planned right now is to take the bridge over to P.E.I. and the ferry over to N.S. then loop the whole place and take the land bridge back.
We thought about the ferry from the US to N.S. but decided we would rather spend 6 hours riding then sitting on the boat.
Any suggestions on exchanging money or do you think we would be better off with using just travelers checks? I was all so thinking of just using the credit card for everything and let the CC company do the exchange rate for me. How do you guys do it?

Oakala, sounds like you have a great trip lined up, envy anyone riding in Atlantic Canada, beautiful area. I will assume that you are intering Canada via St. Stepen, New Brunswick, if so there is a currency exchange on main street called NorCam, they will give you good rate for your money. We used credit cards for the trip we took, never carry cash here so didn't see the need to while up there. Canada does not accept Discover card so plan on another, remember to take warm clothing, it gets chilly up there.

LOL, I should get along just fine in Canada, I don't believe in the Discover Card either
We will be packing the winter riding gear with us and rain gear as well. We are not making reservations anywhere either. Going for the real adventure of just trying to find a place to eat and sleep and then ride some more.
