When did they make the first VTXs? What were some of the changes/improvments leading up to what we now enjoy?

the 02 1800 was the first one I think and except taking the fuel pump off the 1300 I dont think anything has changed except the 1800 cosmetic stuff for the N model.

Yep, eliminated the fuel pump on the 1300's. Starting in 04 they went to external fuel pumps and seamless tanks on 1800's. They finally figured out how to paint an engine and polish the fins. Although it's not the best job in the world :?

I think the internal fuel pumps are stupid,,, man they take up room for gas and are a bitch to replace. Fine in a car but just dumb on a bike.
