Well folks, it’s that time of the year again…………………time for the Third Annual Scarecrow’s BBQ. :mcrider: :chef2: :beer3: :eat2: :mcrider: :beer2:
This year it is once again the Friday of the Honda Hoot, June 20. The location, as before, will be at my place in Bean Station, TN.
This area of East Tennessee is well known for its series of long, narrow valleys bordered by ridges on either side. This year the primary ride will visit the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, as well as scenic valleys, and will include some challenging roads (although not the level of the Dragon). So come prepared for another great riding experience.
So, here are the details:
•BBQ Location: 2821 Cherokee Drive, Bean Station, TN 37708
•Google Maps Link for directions): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=green+acres,+bean+station,+tn,+37708&sll=36.291054,-83.33632&sspn=0.008354,0.017209&ie=UTF8&ll=36.291244,-83.336277&spn=0.008354,0.017209&z=16&iwloc=addr
•Distance from Honda Hoot and Knoxville, TN: Approximately 43 miles
•Itinerary:
oMorning ride leaves at 9:00 AM. It is a short run (less than one hour) and will end at Kingswood School, where the bikes will be displayed for the children to view. Kingswood School is a Christian Alternative school in Bean Station, that helps children who are no longer able to attend public schools (http://schools.privateschoolsreport.com ... chool.html (http://schools.privateschoolsreport.com/Tennessee/BeanStation/KingswoodSchool.html) ).
oThe BBQ will begin at approximately 12:00 N.
oThe afternoon ride will depart at 2:00 PM and should last about 5 hours maximum (including stops).
oMore details on the BBQ and rides follow.
•The cost for the food this year will be $12 per person (same as last year). Drinks will be iced tea and lemonade, so BYOB if that’s what you want. The BBQ will be provided by Buddy’s BBQ of Knoxville. All excess $$ will be donated to Kingswood School. Last year, we donated over $120 and it was much appreciated, as they receive no state or federal funding).

•Registration for the BBQ and rides will be via E_MAIL ONLY, as my PM notifications do not work. My e-mail address is johnegreenejr@hotmail.com. To register, I will need your name, VTXOA handle, number of attendees, e-mail address for future correspondence, and what events (BBQ or rides) you want to attend. A cell phone number is also handy, if you are late for an event (so we can contact you).
• You may pay by check or cash, $12 per person, on the day of the event. If you want to pay in advance by check, mail it to me at:
John Greene
PO Box 362
Blair, NE 68008
Please note your VTXOA handle on the check.
•If anyone has anything that they would like to donate for “door prizes”, they would be greatly appreciated. John Henry’s wife donated some homemade soap last year, so we were a clean bunch of bikers.
•I haven’t completed the ride maps yet, but they will be available prior to the event.
•The afternoon ride will include at stop at a local “Biker Shop” in Morristown, so you can do some shopping as well as riding.
•Finally, I want to invite everyone, regardless of what you ride. Folks that made either of the two previous events will tell you we have a good time. But, I want to stress that this is a SAFE family oriented event, like the Honda Hoot. So I hope to see you in June!
