OK I will put this out to all the guys. I have an antique engine and tractor show at Laural Valley in Thibodeaux on La.308. I am the president of The Old Time Bayou Engine and Tractor Club and I would like to invite everyone to come out and see Hit and Miss engines that most of you have never seen before and a few tractors. There is usually a live band playing Cajun music, arts & crafts for the ladies, tractor rides for the kids, antique cars, food, and some old guy who thinks he is the president of the club making home made ice cream with a 1927 1 1/2 hp engine. Everything is free except for the food and the arts & crafts. I will call to see if the civil war
reinactment guys will be there to show how they used to shoot a civil war canon (very loud). I can't make the ride because of this event, but you could take the Kramer Road and come into Thibodeaux,go left on La.308 and few miles to Laural Valley.
PM me for more info

8) I've seen those "Hit/Miss" engines, and they're cool.

I'd like to say that I'm in, but I'll probably be Turkey hunting. I haven't been able to go yet and the season is going fast!

We'll have to see!

The engine show is at Laural Valley in Thibodeaux on La. 308. I will be there for 7:30AM, we start shutting down around 3:00 Pm, let things cool down, load up and are usually gone for 4:30PM. The crafters are usually set up for 9:00AM, food starts around 11:00-11:30 and the shop is open for 8:00AM. I would like a head count so that I can get an idea on how many of our guys will be there, I need to know how much ice and ice cream mix I need to buy. I will make ice cream for our group and for my club members. I don't sell to the public because of all the sue happy people. We usually have several trailer loads of engines as old as 1903 all the way to now, some hammer break igniter, some spark plug, some open crankcase (you see everything). Look up hit & miss on e-bay and you will get an idea of what we have. Let me know if you need more info.

It's all good!
I'm sure there are a lot that don't. I don't mine taking a ride to see Bud's engines. It's a ride on the bike. :D Was hoping to get something else that all would be interested in. Wish I new the back roads, but I get lost in my own neighbor hood.

The date is Sunday, April 27. The ride to Laurl Valley is very nice. Highway 308 is about as back road as you can get.

Thanks Haorld for covering for me, you can always count on a fellow collector and VTX Rider. Can we work on a head count so I have an idea on how much ice cream I need to get.

8) Very If-ey at this time!
I have a drama production called "Judgment House" that weekend at Church. We've been practicing for the past couple months!
Every evening Fri, Sat & Sun!!

 There may be an angle though....maybe I can sell the wife on the fact that I'm stressed over the production and need to unwind!! Yeah, that's the ticket, as long as I'm home in time! How's that sound?

Kruzin Suzan, don't you tell her either! I know you're out there!

The ride to the show is a beautiful ride, on back roads, reguardless of the direction you come from. Lets here from some of you and get a head count.

The Queen (Shell) decided my presence at work this weekend would be in my best interest. It's kind of a condition of employment. Well, it was nice to think I would get another weekend off. Everybody have a good time. Maybe the next time.

It doesn't look good for tomorrow  Antique engines don't like rain, magnetos don't like rain, and I don't like getting wet. So I say we call this one off.  I will try and see if Laural Valley is still going to have a show for the crafters and post something when I find out. I appericate everyone comming out to see these pieces of American history, they really did things the hard way back then, (put the governor on the exhaust valve not the fuel mixer, igniters??, spark plugs were new and not reliable) I guess I'll make some ice cream at home.
Thanks everyone
BUD

Well I haven't gotten the offical word, but they are saying the Laural Valley show is cancelled.
I don't know if they will reschedule or not. I will not be there, can't see getting thousands of dollars of machinery wet. Most of my club members have called and they feel the same way. The grounds will be a wet, sloppy mess.
Thanks
BUD :orac:
