Hey all,

Where do you guys buy your leather? I'm looking for a jacket and gloves. I've seen a lot of good stuff online but I really like to try things on before I buy. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I've done business with Deerfield Leather in Deerfield right near the fairgrounds, and Art's Cow Parts in Hampstead. Deerfield is a reseller and Art makes his own. He'll stand behind his stuff forever.
You can't go wrong with either shop.

I may have lucked out when I found my leather jacket at Motorcycles of Manchester.

Had to do a little more searching for a jacket for my other half. Hayward'a in Milford had a pretty large selection of jackets, coats, vests, gloves and the like. They're right on Rte 1010A

With bike week coming up, you'll find many inexpensive and cheap import jackets.

For the past 2 years that I've gone, there is a leather company from Massachusetts that sets up and has some real nice stuff. They manufacture and warranty their own product. A little more pricey than the Pakistan stuff but superior quality in constuction and zippers. I already had a jacket at the time but I may hit them for a vest this year.

+2 Deerfield Leathers, they all so offer life time on all of their products. I have chaps from them.

Dyer Leathers out of Mass. makes their own jackets, warranty for life. I have a jacket from them, but it was not cheap.

If your looking for some really nice gloves, H-D of Manchester sells deer gloves, full for $25 and half gloves for less. Right when you go in the door they are on your left, outside of the Harley stuff. These gloves are great, warm and very comfortable. I cannot remember who makes them but they are local within New England. I talked a buddy of mine into buying a pair and now we have to go back so I can buy a pair. Soft leather, no break-in well worth the money.

I have switched from leather to a firstgear "hypertech" riding jacket, much more functional of a jacket, don't get me wrong there is a place n time for leather riding jackets, n the coolness factor.

I just find my firstgear an all around much better riding jacket, a TON lighter, warmer in the cold and cooler in heat and a very significant notice on less wind drag..

You know the funny thing is, I forgot about all the vendors at bike week. Thanks for all the replies, now I have a great excuse to go for a ride.

IMPO most of the stuff I have seen @ Bike week "Laconia" is less than qualitystuff, I'd go right to Art's or Deerfield Leather forget Bike Week leathers IMPO.. unless Art's or Deerfield has booths.

I have to agree with Roger on that one. I would not buy during bike week there are better places to buy, quality/price. Prices jump during a rally, vendors have to pay to set up their booth. Good luck...OMO

My plan is to hit every shop that people have recommended, the couple here and others friends and family have told me about. Sort of making a whole day out of riding around and seeing different places. I'll figure out what I like the best then buy something. Thanks again.

I wonder if these are the folks that set up at Bike Week. I remember specifically a company from Mass that makes and warrantees their own. If it's the same company, they make some great looking stuff.

Maybe a phone call would save you a ride to Mass and consolidate your Bike Week activities.

Art's Cow Parts in Hampstead is great. I went to high school with the owner's son Mike, he does some work there too. Good guys, and they are guys who ride too. They make great stuff and take alot of pride. Nice handmade leather, especially for the money.

I bought an awesome jacket last year that I can't say enough about. I was real particular on what I was looking for. It's actually a sportbike jacket. I got it for 50% off from the Clearance rack at Naults Manchester. Just thought I'd leave the info since I'm so happy with it. I looked around for a while. Here's a link
