I recently installed a SkiFi 3 XM radio on the wife's VTX1300R after Toyota Fried her Roady (another long story).
On the first ride out it worked fine till we met up with some others. Just as we went to leave she yelled to me "I've got no music" and then looked at me like this==>
When we got back from the Leesburg Bike Fest I took a look at it and what's happening is the power cord from the DC to DC converter has a loose connection.
If I push it to one side it makes a good connection - but left alone it goes back off. I tried strapping it to put some tension on it and that didn't work - nor would it be a good idea to stress the board in the car cradle.
I'm using a 5.5 volt power supply (made in china of course :( ) from http://www.myradiostore.com and when I called them they had no useful suggestions.
Anyone else had this issue?
I'm debating about disassembling the car cradle and SOLDERING the wires to it, but if I mess up I've blown $50 worth of hardware and still have a pissed off wife.
Has anyone soldered onto these before?
HELP!!
Thanks in Advance,
Dave
