Got up this morning to see a bunch of cars/trucks with there windows shot out in the neighbor hood. My neighbor had two windows shot out. His wife works at Auburn city hall and so far they have received 150 calls reporting shot windows. The Auburn police caught two high school boys early am with a BB Gun. Some trucks had up to three windows shot out. Boy what a mess. I'd hate to be those parents when they get the bill.
I keep my car in the garage :D
I wonder if King 5 will have Jessie Jones covering this tonight.  8)

That is horrible!!!! Awhile ago when we lived in some apartments some kid or kids went around slashing tires in the apartment complexes and some of the businesses around. They were caught and were supposed to pay restitution. NEver saw any of that money to pay for a new tire.

I have had people tell me that Crime is the same everywhere. My response is No it's not! Till recently I have had apartments in Georgia and Florida and people there were shocked when crime did happen. No one cared much if one drug dealer shot another drug dealer but there were not a thing called Collateral Damage (bystanders getting shot). As for other crimes? I could, and did take walks at 1,2,3 am and other than exercising some good street sense, like pay attention to who might be around, it just was not a problem. When I come back to Washington and anyother place on the West Coast I would not go outside at night. The truth about here is that the government is too cheap to hire a sufficient amount of police to solve the problem. New York did and it used to be a mecca of crime. We need to do it here too. Profile, Detain, and Arrest that is what they do in Florida and Georgia.
That's my 2 cents--ok Todd it is more like a quarters worth!
Cheers,
Rowland

I'm going to have to agree with Roland on this. We just need more feet on the street. Especially Seattle.

About 25 years ago there was a bunch of house windows shot out in the town I lived in.
The perp was caught and was an employee of a local glass co  He wanted to make more money.

Been in La Palma, Gran Canaria for more than 2 weeks now. There are a million people here - mostly Spanish, but it's a tourist mecca for Europeans. There are literally people here from every country and you can hear 10-12 different languages spoken everywhere you go. I have yet to hear even a raised voice. I have seen police, but not very many. Mostly they give directions to tourists, direct traffic and write parking tickets. The roads, here, are very narrow and there's just enough room for cars to park on one side and drive on the other. About 90% of all the streets are 1-way and people park wherever they can find a spot.
I'm amazed to see how 'relaxed' it is here in the hustle and bustle of a big city, but everyone seems to respect each other and be patient, tolerant, and forgiving. I see a lot of head-shaking when some dumb tourist turns up a 1-way street the wrong direction or something like that, but it's usually more funny than enything else and a minor nuisance at the most. Keep in mind that most of these little mistakes and misunderstandings are often etween people who don't even speak the same language.
So I say shame on us. We can do much better, but have made a concious decision not to do so. Even the young people, here (teenagers) are funny and yet respectful. It makes a lot of difference.
My guess is, that in persuit of the almighty dollar, many Americans have left the children to raise themselves. We talk about 'family life', but is it really? There's a new "Extreme" generation up and coming. Look what we have created............
Gotta get back to work here. Just thought I'd throw in my three cents worth.
