I'm thinking about installing an CB/intercom system on the bike that I can use as a passenger to rider, rider to rider communication, and something I can hook up a cell phone , sat. radio and maybe a CB too.
I'm thinking wired or Bluetooth. Anyone with any knowledge or first hand experience with these? I'm open for any and all help and advice. I've recieved some info from Rib-bone but would like to have more input.
Sevie and I are going to replace helmets this year and thought maybe a good time to look for ones with built in headsets and mics. any suggestions? Are there any places around where a guy could go into the store and look and ask questions??? thanks for any help, Bob

Bob,
My wife and I bought the following units http://www.ixradio.com/intercom_system.htm including the helmet speakers and microphones. They allow us to connect a cell phone, a FRS radio and and MP3 player. They also allow for rider to passenger communications. Ours are not bluetooth compatible. They work ok but there is wind noise when talking. This company makes a throat mic that can replace the regular mic that is part of the helmet set that I think would reduce the wind noise. We looked at other sets that were way more expensive and took a chance on these and for the price they work well.

I have heard that J&M make the best and it is Push to Talk which is a little more functional as far as the noise level. I have used it on a friends bike as a passenger and I was amazed that they work. Not sure about with loud pipes. I have talked so some the VTX people that have the J&M and they swear by them. They are expensive so hang on to your wallet!

I use the J&M CB unit. I've tried the Chatterbox and a couple of others but so far the J&M has been the best. They're pricey though. You can sometimes get a good deal on eBay for headsets, cords, etc. but one of the best places to buy new is Sierra Electronics.

J&M is the best that I have used and they make it for rider alone or rider to passenger, sierra has the best prices, the headseats are about the most expensive part, but have good warrantys, just open up the wallet Bob and do it
