I finally found the speaker system for my bike. Honda is now making a Digital Audio Amp and speaker set. This is a nice setup that is designed for the 08 goldwing and vtx, but compatible back to 02 vtx's. I got the base kit yesterday and of course not knowing anything about it the parts guy told me everything i needed was in the box...how many times have i heard that.

Based on what little information I have found on the internet I can conclude the following :

The Digital amplifier : Part # 08A08 9H8 000 must be combined with quartet harness part # 08A30MEW800

The Quartet Harness : Part # 08A20MEW800 connects to the electrical system and give power to the amp along with the input mini jack that goes to the MP3 player

The Attachment kit: Part # 08B08-MCH-100is the handle bar mounting kit needed

Anyone reading this is thinking OKAY WHATS THE ISSUE.....

I have the base unit, the attachment kit is on its way...but what the hell is a Quartet harness and why can I find no reference for this harness kit....except that its needed !!!

HELLLLP!

The wiring harness comes with the mounting kit.
Hope that helps.

:)

Right on, that helps knowing that ! From the stuff i found online over the weekend it looks like a fairly simple install with the harness running into the headlight and then it just plugs in.

Do you have this sound system?

It plugs in behind the cover for the shifter. That is where it picks up the speed sensor
for the auto volume. Yes i have this. It looks good, but not the best sound. But it works.

I was looking to purchase this but was told that it is incompatible with the 2003 VTX1300. Supposedly the harness only works with 2004 and newer. My issue it that I am unable to confirm this, so can anyone out there confirm/deny this?

Also, if this incompatibility is true, what is the best sounding speaker system out there?

Anyone know of a way to disable the auto volume?
