I did say HOOTERS girls   !

Looks like you're the only person interested Creaddy. I'm beginning to agree with LadyVTX, I think this forum is mostly a loose affiliation of people who happen to own a certain motorcycle for the purpose of posting and posing. I am totally underwhelmed by the responses anyone gets to posting ride information here.

Or maybe it's just my deodorant...

Guess I'll stick with SCRC. Their ride schedule is out through the end of the year, btw. LMK if you would like to see that.

I think that people just need to have some sort of "place" where they can look up events and local riding news. I know it's a pain in the can when you post stuff and you get a marginal response. A lot of people work during the week and are more interested in just riding with their close group in the weekends.. I know, I know, I sound like I'm making excuses. In my case I check the board every day. I work the graveyard shift, so there is not much going on at night. But I regress, I'll try to make it on the 17th. My bike is getting repaired as we speak (little accident between me and a dog..dog won) I should be getting it back next week. I hope!

HairOnFire,

FWIW, I check in here on a nearly daily basis. However, I have a hard time committing to rides due to the nature of my work. I travel for work and am often reading this forum from Houston or Raleigh, NC or Montvale, NJ or Kansas City or Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Maybe I need to be more communicative on here. I've just usually operated in a mode that if I have nothing to add to a thread I don't say anything.

I will try to be more talkative here, sincerely.

Hope to meet up with you sometime, I've enjoyed your informative posts throughout the board.

HairOnFire,

Thanks for the kind words, Wolfmark. Got out for a nice dose of Florida sunshine today. All the way home from Melbourne in the rain. Finally got to test out my TourMaster Elite rainsuit. Worked great! And Hondaline waterproof boots are, in fact, waterproof.

I have to be pretty spontaneous about riding, myself. I certainly understand all the conflicts that life throws in the road to keep us from riding. Work getting in the way of life, that sort of thing. That's why I like SCRC. No one's feelings get hurt if you can't make a ride - and there's going to be another one in two weeks, anyway! Within that context, you always know where you are going and when you are going - just not always IF you are going!

Just got back. Got there late this a.m. - about 10:30 - and unless you were the guy trying to fit a fork bag to the red Retro, didn't see anyone I knew. Pretty good turnout, though. TV camera crews and all... Didn't go on the poker run, but had a nice ride to Brooksville, anyway.

I left there around 11:30, but nope, that weren't me with the fork bag. Didn't do the run either because I had a previous commentment to help my brother-in-law paint. :x I hate painting!

I'm sure we'll have another chance to say hi. Ride safe.

The wife and I showed up. Tryied to look for HairOnFire, but I don't know what you look like, just kind of looked for the bike. We got there between 10:30 and 11:00. Had a philly at Lake Susan Lodge and a very bad poker hand.

Sorry I missed you BigMac. I just looked for VTX's. Got caught up talking to the guy with the red retro and... well... when I start running my mouth we all know what happens! :D

I look a lot like the scrawny guy in my avatar, but I admit it's a bit fuzzy. That may be on purpose..

Southern Cruisers S. Lake Chapter are riding to St. Augustine on the 24th. I can't make that, but highly recommend it. About 5 other VTX's usually ride in the group. Heck, you are right there in Clermont where most of the members live! Have you checked them out? Maybe you are already a member? I'm fairly new to the club; been on about 4 rides so far. All great!

I will be riding with them to Astor on August 14th.

Come join us!

Wish I could go. It is my daughters birthday. Would like to go on another soon though. We are probably going up to Tennessee in August and stay for a while. Plan on going on the Trail of Tears ride from Chat in Sept.

Can you tell me more about the ride to Astor?

I had spent a good part of my time trying to convince Art in parts to order me the Hard Krome Sideburners for $525, which I found on the web at mawonline.com, but they wouldn't go that low, they'd do it for what HDL wants. I told them if they'd deliver to my door I'd do it, otherwise what's the point?

So, I guess I will call HDL and see if they'll meet $525. I'm going to have to hook up with you guys and SCRC or just pm y'all when I'm about to head out.

Hope all's well!

Yep. That's a pretty hard price to beat. Best I've seen is about $538. I'd give HDL a shot and see if he'll give you the promised 5% under! Since I bought my bike at PH I think they tend to cut me a little break, but I have found some items that they won't quite go as low as prices you can find on the 'net. I just make up the difference by eating their free food every Saturday. :P Plus I'm always dragging my riding buddies in there, and they've spent a fortune! For me it's a bonus that they don't deliver 'cause it's a nice ride out there.

I'm bored sitting here waiting on my flight, so this makes the time pass nicely. I bought at PH also and am pretty happy with them. I like the parts guys, they like to talk bikes and have some good ideas. I really didn't think they'd be willing to meet that mawonline.com price or deliver, I was just yanking their chains really. They did say they would meet HDL price though and always have when I've asked. I've found the key is to ask, for me anyhow. Probably I haven't asked for the same items as you and so haven't seen them balk yet. I tend to keep things simple for myself as I am no wrench.

Anyhow, take care and ride safe.
