Lets plan either Bayville or Steam Boat Landing in Glen Cove, for Wednesday Night, the Nathans thing has gotten real old, and very crowded.

Bayville or Glen Cove offer some nice places to sit have a beer and some normal conversation.

Any suggestions on a meeting place.......so we can ride down there together...........

I took a ride to Bayville on Saturday. VERY nice ride. Went up there on the Glen Cove side (Chicken Valley Road? -- I know it by sight, don't remember all the road names), came back down over the bridge, through town, and down 106. I stopped at some place across the street from the beach for a hot dog and soda. Wound up bumping into a friend, and chatting with a few other bikers (outdoor bar area in the back seemed to be a popular spot for the bikers to stop for a beer). Eclectic group -- Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Harley, and a couple of customs with S&S engine blocks. One of the customs was on a ride out from Manhattan -- the guy was very friendly, and his bike was absolutely amazing.
Before this turns into a novel -- my point is that the place afforded biking visitors great scenery/food/drink/company. And I just stumbled into it by parking where I saw some other bikes.
To finally answer your question regarding a staging area -- maybe the Chili's parking lot (a couple of blocks west of 135 on Hempstead Tpke). We could head north on 135 to the NSP or the LIE, then head a short distance west to 106/107. There are several ways to get up to Bayville or Glen Cove from there, and most of the options are nice rides.
Now that I've said all that, I should mention I'm only about a 50/50 chance to be able to make it tomorrow night, myself... :(

OK... finally got most of my chores done for the day. Guess I'll make a ride somewhere tonight... IF... if those T-storms over eastern PA fizzle out, or drift away from us.

About 3:30PM now, and it looks like a line is forming.

Anyway, let me know where we're going/meeting if anyone makes a decision. I have no preference... I'm with the crowd.

I'll check back here about 6PM.

Tom

I'm heading home from work now.
The kids will be home alone if I ride tonight, but I think they'll survive.
Weather looks 'iffy'.
Because of your line of work, riding with you guys is like riding with a bunch of meteorologists, which is a good thing...
Later.
