Yes it is well worth the ride, plan a whole day for the visit. It is a big place and to be able to look and take your time, it will take a while. You may even get to see some Crotch Rockets on the track, if you have a group going you can arrange to get on the track yourself.

Ride safe

Hello Mayor,

A great place to visit. I was there with other VTXers in 2006, they only gave me two hours to look, and I only saw about a half of the place. I would like to see the rest of the collection.
Too hot to ride on interstate in the afternoon, could be a good place to visit in the fall or ride US 278. viewtopic.php?f=42&t=124404&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0 (http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=124404&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0)

I would be up for that ride again. That was a great place. Was this the museum that was selling off its collection or was that another one seems like i read one of those bike museums was doing that.

Ted,
I forgot you were on that ride. Bad elbow and an early departure. I was reading the old posts!

Wheels through Time is the one you are thinking about. I copied this from their web:
The Wheels Through Time Museum will be shifting its gears in 2009 towards new objectives and a new focus. America’s most renowned collection of rare vintage American Motorcycles will be relocating out of Western North Carolina to a currently undecided location in order to expand its horizons and broaden its impact.

Having relocated to Western North Carolina in 2002, the museum has been an outstanding success, preserving the history of hundreds of America’s rarest two- and four-wheeled machines and presenting them in a fascinating, natural ambience for over 280,000 visitors in just five short years. Now, the museum looks to broaden its impact, through both a new location and a new museum initiative of “Taking Wheels around the World”.

Well thats good news. Somewhere else to ride. Especially when we do the smokies ride and Kickstand Lodge. (Which if you havent tried is a great place to meet other VTX riders from everywhere and not just for ten minutes but for the whole weekend)
